Trying to support local restaurants during the current situation, I found this restuarant. I have driven passed it many times, but never gone in before.
I phoned in my order: kalua pork with cabbage (delicious!), Portuguese musubi (very good), seafood platter (good and plentiful), and the hamburger steak....well...
The hamburger steak is what brought this review down--everything else was between good and fantastic. The hamburger patties, though, were cooked to the point of being completely inedible. Both sides of all the parties are blackened. Using a metal fork, the meat had to be sawed at to get a bite to eat. My mom didn't even eat one patty, it was so hard and dry.
The gravy was good, so was the rice, but gravy and rice is not a great meal for my mom, who is diabetic. We are now roasting veggies and chicken for her instead.
Even though 1 out of 3 meals will go in the trash, I may try this place again; I just won't touch anything with hamburger. (Which is sad because that loco moco...
Read moreThe food here is just average as I have had Hawaiian food and this feels like it just missing the love and soul. Granted this is a chain so it makes sense why it is missing. The presentation also just seems like an after thought and the rice is just so meh. Other than that, the meats here are pretty decent for the price you pay as well as the portion sizes (not so much for the shrimp or short ribs though). My boyfriend said it was alright as it was his first time coming to an L&L. Our friend ordered the saimin and enjoyed it as it was very comforting.
The service here was pretty nonexistent, no greeting or asking if we had questions. Once we were ready to order, we walked up to the cashier and she didn't offer anything either. She did repeat our order to ensure it was correct but other than that, nothing else was exchanged. The ambiance here does have island vibes with the decor, table cloth, and the music. But it's just a very average experience for those looking to get some...
Read moreWhat's going on at the Federal Way store? I ordered a small tray of Hawaiian Mac Salad. I was a little frustrated because I sent my son in to get the salad since I'm in pain. They sent him back to me asking for the card used to purchase the pickup order. So I gave my son the card. He came back again, saying they needed the order number. So I pulled it up on my phone and sent him in with my phone to show them the order info. That's insane! How many people in Washington are named Ualani? The card I used to pay should have been enough to pick it up. Please don't be like that. Making him take 3 trips from the car just to pick up the Mac salad was completely unnecessary. People need to learn to use a little common sense. I took 1 star for each unnecessary trip. What should have taken less than 5 minutes took nearly 20. I am happy to say that the food tasted just like home. Everyone was happy with my...
