For starters, the facility manager, "Carrie" as everyone refers to, is actually Caroline (Carey) Hammond, the wife of Flat Rock Mayor Mark A. Hammond!

Get that straight immediately & read on.

Caroline is NOT the owner of the facility, the residents of the City of Flat Rock own this facility-it's taxpayer owned.

What a joke! Flat Rock voters, pay attention!

Caroline is an absolutely abusive & obnoxious person, who is on a power trip because her husband is the mayor of this small town. Thank God she has no true power or authority in this world!

I confirm what others are saying here-Caroline was a terribly difficult person to deal with for the bride & groom's family prior to their wedding event that I attended.

Caroline illegally searched the private property of the groomsmen to find some beers that they had in their dressing room, and prior to the dinner service, shut the wedding down with 150 people in the banquet hall! Believe me when I tell you that their cocktail hour at the place had only been open 30 minutes prior to Caroline shutting the event down, so there were ZERO intoxicated or unruly people present. ZERO.

Further, Caroline made a false report to the Flat Rock Police Department, stating that there was a riot at the place, when in fact, there weren't ANY occurrences of fighting or property damage whatsoever.

Police officers from Flat Rock, Brownstown, and Rockwood promptly responded, based on this false reporting of a crime.

Why Caroline was not arrested for a false report of a crime is a question that the residents of Flat Rock should ask their mayor, Caroline's husband, Mayor Mark A. Hammond!

If the police officers weren't scared of their mayor's tyrant wife, Caroline should have been arrested for this false reporting of a crime on-the-spot! Yes, it was THAT blatant that she falsely reported a crime to the police.

As it was, the police on the scene tried to mitigate the damage Caroline unnecessarily inflicted on this wedding, and she refused to be reasonable and insisted that 150 well-behaved people leave the wedding reception.

Caroline used her husband's influence as the mayor to avoid criminal prosecution for falsely reporting a crime to the police, to get the police to stay to intimidate people into leaving a public facility (even as the officers were openly laughing at how ridiculous she was behaving), locked the kitchen and refused to let the catering company in, refused to compromise to shut down ANY/ALL alcohol sales or consumption just so the wedding reception could proceed, etc. Caroline even locked property of the catering company in the kitchen, refused to allow them to retrieve it, and the property disappeared.

NO compromise, NO reasonable behavior, NO compassion for this newly married couple's wedding reception, NOTHING.

And just to be clear, there were NO violations of the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) statutes at this event, as Caroline claimed! If there had been, the Flat Rock Police also would've been duty-bound to report them to the MLCC, and take further action to sanction Caroline and the City for these violations.

Flat Rock Mayor Mark A. Hammond, and his wife, Caroline Hammond, have destroyed this formerly-wonderful taxpayer-owned resource. Numerous reviews online reveal that this was NOT the first time she's behaved like this with weddings or events held at this facility.

I'd encourage the Flat Rock Police Department to look at this matter, and file criminal charges against Mayor Mark A. Hammond's wife, Caroline Hammond, for the false reporting of a crime, as well as what was certainly improper use of the 911 system, assuming she made that false report via the 911 system. There is not enough time in my day to write just how terribly this venue treated my parents and my sister during her wedding planning process. The venue came under new management, which is when everything (along with Covid, of course) went downhill. Phone calls and emails were left unanswered, and when my mom and sister showed up at the hall for a SCHEDULED meeting, they arrived at an empty, dark, and locked building. Carrie did not show up for the meeting and did not answer their many phone calls and emails addressing the issue. Along the issues of Covid, my sister was having her ceremony outside and the reception underneath a tent in the parking lot (that my parents would be expected to pay extra for, even though they already paid for the venue). As the wedding day was quickly approaching and still phone calls and emails were unanswered, we all were panicking because we needed to finalize details. Then, when Carrie decided she wanted to finally start communicating with us (two months before the big day), she informed us that the venue did not have enough chairs or lighting for the tent, and she said, "By 8:30, you all will be in the dark." Uhm. Excuse me? You are the venue whom we are paying to make the wedding day happen. Also, they were going to have enough chairs for the reception to originally take place inside, so...why not move those chairs outside to the tent? It got to the point of us feeling like a burden to this venue as they were making every excuse under the book to lead us to switching venues (which ended in my parents' backyard who ended up being better planners than the actual Banquet Hall). I am extremely disappointed in this venue, especially after she finally told my parents that this venue is trying to veer away from doing big events like this, which was the icing on the cake for proving my theory that they just didn't want to deal with us. If I could give this facility a 0 review I would! I would never recommend this facility to anyone! This facility and when I say facility I mean (Carrie) is the worse possible person to work with for any possible event or wedding! I attended a wedding last night at this banquet hall where the cops were called (10 police cars) due to the groomsman having a few alcoholic beverages in a cooler prior to the wedding ceremony! The wedding coordinator at this facility (Carrie) immediately called the police after seeing the alcohol in the bridal room before even giving the bridal party a warning or telling them that she was calling the police! During cocktail hour with 150 guests waiting for the bridal party to enter the reception , Carrie decided to shut down the wedding! The members of the bridal party and family members attempted to find a compromise instead of shutting the wedding down and ruining the bride and grooms first day as husband and wife, but instead had ZERO remorse and shut everything down. If you want this day to be about the people that you love and care about the most I would never recommend this facility to you! They do not care about the bride or groom or starting someone’s beginning to the rest of there lives.
