Visited Folly Beach. My husband forgot to bring sun shade. Tried to call Folly Beach Chair Company to inquire about a rental. No answer. Sat under an umbrella until someone came to check me in. Asked me if I had been checked in. I said no. Asked me if I have a reservation. I said no. Explained to me about the process. Explained there may not be any availability. Explained that I could go over to ask about availability at the flag. No problem I can move my few things that were in the seat beside me and wait for help to move the rest of my things farther away from the rental. She then spoke to the couple beside me who had the same problem.
I was fine up until this point. They, like me did not have a reservation but were told they could sit in a rental in the back row tentatively until availability was known. I was not given this same courtesy. The renters beside my things show up. The person responsible associated with the chair company says ,”Unfortunately, we are going to have to move over.” I am now in the process of moving my things at least six feet away from the rental.
I would have gone to at least rent an umbrella, but because of the rude behavior, I would rather get a sunburn. Meanwhile….I have never used a chair rental (so I don’t know how it works until I talk to someone which I could not do) because I always have my own. Please use better customer service. I know it’s frustrating if people are just trying to take advantage, but be mindful that some people just don’t know. I would have given more stars because the rentals are not bad at all. Read moreWe made our reservations two days prior for six chairs three umbrellas and three boogie boards. There is an opportunity to tip upfront during the reservation which we did. They were awful proud of their service. It was all set up and waiting for us upon our arrival. The leashes on two of the boogie boards were subpar but we were able to manage half the day with them. When one of them completely failed. We approached the host in search of a replacement. We were greeted with “yeah those waves are pretty gnarly”. They were 2-3 ft. Next followed “you want me to duck tape it to your hand?”. There were five people standing around for both statements and no one laughed. The final resolution was to tie the cord around my sons hand. The owner later commented the employees intentions were to make my child comfortable. A bit misguided but forgivable. My guess is this experience...
Read moreI had a similar experience with the guy that owns this business as did Gloria Walker. The people that work here seemed very nice but the owner is rude and has an anger management problem. I was at Folly Beach to enjoy a few days at the beach with family during a wedding in Charleston and was berated by this guy for letting one of his customer service people know my order with them was wrong and wanted it to be corrected. After being berated by him, I cancelled my order and took my business elsewhere, and you should too! No problems with those that work there, but the owner should be kept in the back room and not be permitted to talk to the public. If you read through the reviews, it appears he gets out of the back room too often. Worst interaction I have ever had with a business owner...bar none. If I could give NO...
