Taco Boy Folly Beach — Restaurant in Folly Beach

The absolute worst experience I have ever had. I wish I could give negative stars.

I just moved to the area and had 2 friends visiting. They wanted to eat here at taco boy, but I am an extremely picky eater with food allergies so I decided to go around the corner and get pizza to eat. When I walked in the host was extremely rude and when I sat with my friends that were sitting OUTSIDE at the bar, the bartenders and host had already smarted off to them along with me. The bartender finally came over so I ordered a drink to still give them my service and money since I had brought other food. When my friends received their food I ate the pizza I brought, mind you we were sitting outside- the male bartender proceeded to look at me and yelled “No, you can’t do that” “I don’t know what would ever make you think you could bring outside food to a restaurant” “that is ridiculous you think you could do that” and kept going on loudly making comments to me to the point I was completely humiliated to be there. Then he walked down to the female bartender and proceeded to talk bad about me and my friends when he knew we could clearly hear them.

It is not like this was an upscale place that I went in and just sat and ate other restaurants food in. Me and my friends BOTH gave them service and a lot of money because this place is not cheap. I understand restaurants have protocols that they have to follow. I have never had an issue bringing other food into a restaurant, but would have been completely understanding that they didn’t allow that had he been a lot less aggressive and rude towards me. They also had no respect to even ask why I had brought other food.

I left completely upset, humiliated, and they totally ruined our day. It was not just one server/bartender, it was every worker there. I have never experienced such entitled and rude service and will not ever recommend this...

Visiting from out of state. Was told there was a 1.5 hour wait, but we can sit immediately near the bar and order there.

We said, great let's do it!

What a mistake.

Took about 10 minutes to get one of three bartenders attention. When we finally did, we tried to put in an order but he recommended that we start with drinks (??).

So we did.

After about another 5-10 minutes, I tried to get his attention again to finally order.

Took a while for him to finally decide to take our order.

We ordered the chips and queso (pretty good), the street corn (never received it, but was charged for it), the chicken quesadillas and the taco boy salad with chicken.

We sat for 20 minutes, nothing came out.

Once I got the bar tenders attention, yet again taking way too long, I asked where the food is. We haven't even received our app or chips. He said that he asked somebody else to do it, and he went back in the kitchen to figure out what happened (??).

Finally the chips and queso came out, along with a disclaimer that it'll be a while before anything else comes out.

Perfect.

We finished the chips, and killed some time by asking for refills (lol, another 10 mins).

Finally, the food comes out.

No Mexican street corn, but we were happy to finally have the food. No napkins, no dressing for the salad. Come on.

My wife asked for dressing, and a second bartender promptly got it.

I ate about 6 bites of the salad - bland, tasteless, chicken was room temp.

Asked to close out the tab. The bartender hooked us up on the chips, but still charged us for the corn.

Whatever it takes to get us outta there and home.

Would not recommend at all. Will never...

We had the guacamole which was amazing. It was handmade and fresh which came with corn chips. We went to the top jaguar bar/restaurant. They had an amazing artist playing and singing so that was fabulous for the atmosphere but the service was the worst. The bartender took our order which we had to go to the bar from the tables to order. We felt bad because he was all alone working but also he was pretty rude. First we cleaned our two top table. We cleared the dishes and the table. Then went to a long table on the deck when it opened up- it too was super dirty and not clean so we tried to help by stacking and cleaning. Eventually the bartender came and cleared the rest of the dishes. I went and waited patiently to order more food by the bar. I couldn’t hear him and he couldn’t hear me so I stepped forward to the side of the bar next to the trash can and he waved his hand at me to move. I had asked him what he recommended to eat and he told me the birra tacos so I ordered those (without cheese as I am allergic). Then he told me that the cheese makes the tacos so I should order something else so than I asked for ceviche instead. Than he brought me the tacos. It was super odd. He was grumpy and not friendly at all. Other patrons came and went due to the tables not getting cleaned. Again, I felt bad because clearly he needed help but he was also just not in a good mood. Also, it said 21 and up in the jaguar bar but there was clearly a young teen and then a small kiddo came and joined our table. We didn’t mind however there was a table of men who were cussing very loudly and drinking and it seemed super...
