My Ocean Rental — Attraction in Folly Beach

"This house is beautiful, but also extremely comfortable and functional! We spent six nights here at the end of April, and had a wonderful time. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll be booking this place again! I was initially concerned that Folly Beach might be too busy for our family. But this house is 1+ miles away from the center of town, toward the lighthouse and the quiet part of the island, in a residential area. Even though there are public access points to the beach nearby, the beach was quiet and not the least bit overcrowded. Most people access closer to town. I liked that we were within 10 minutes of a Harris Teeter grocery store, 20 minutes to downtown Charleston, but we could make a quick trip into town to grab carry out or go the Bert's for some basic supplies. As for the house, it's lovely! Three of the bedrooms have their own private decks and overlook the ocean. The "kids" room is on the front of the house and we liked that our 3 year old grandson did not have an outside door. Everyone had their own private bathroom. The deck is nicely furnished and we spent hours outside enjoying the sounds of the surf, watching the waves, and playing with our grandson on the lovely beach. The beach is especially nice in this area. Several homes I considered were great but the beach access involved passing over a rock barrier to get to the sand. This area is great for kids, as the wide beach had lots of room between the house and the ocean. Honestly, the beach access is easier and better than all the pictures show. It's 15 steps to the private walkway and sand. The outdoor water hose, and the hot shower made cleaning off the sand convenient and easy. The kitchen is fantastic. I did the dishes watching the ocean the entire week. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. I loved all the hardwood floors, especially for my family's allergies. The furniture and the beds were comfortable and everything was extremely well maintained and CLEAN! And I'm picky! I originally found this house on VRBO, but book with MyOceanRental. They were cheaper, and were great to deal with. They answered all my questions, and sent information exactly as promised. I like knowing that someone is in town if I have an issue. While everything went smoothly and we did not need to reach out, they texted with all the information I needed exactly as promised. For me, it always comes down to two things. The view, and is the house functional and CLEAN? It exceeded expectations! Thank you for a wonderful vacation! We didn't want to leave! If I had suggestions, it would be to have a baby gate on hand for the stairs, and perhaps add a toaster and crock pot to the kitchen. Otherwise, it was pretty darn close to...

121B E Ashley Blue Crab Beach House

Our family just returned from our vacation at Folly Beach (week of June 22nd) and we already began planning our next visit. The home is beautiful and 100% accurate to the pictures. It is very well appointed with all the comforts of home, including a well stocked kitchen/supplies, smart TVs in every room, bathroom toiletries, etc. The linens and bath towels that were provided were comfortable and high quality - along the lines of a higher end hotel. The location is prime if you like to be near the hustle and bustle of the island - you can walk everywhere in a matter of minutes, but don't let that deter you as the 10 pm - 8 am noise ordinance ensures a good night's sleep.

The downstairs enclosure area was great to hang out in after a day at the beach. The home included at least 5 beach chairs, a bucket/shovel, an umbrella, and a couple boogie boards.

The property management were very responsive, but only have office hours from 9-5, Mon-Fri; however, they do provide a contact number in the event of an emergency.

We were also provided with the opportunity to check-in a day early which we took advantage of as we were planning to leave Friday afternoon, stay the night in a hotel in Virginia, then drive the remainder on Saturday morning. Checking in on Friday allowed us to leave early Friday morning and drive straight to Folly - it was great being all settled in Friday night and it even saved us money compared to what we would have been paying for 3...

RATS! We rented a beach house months ago and arrived on the afternoon of July 17. On arrival, the kitchen was filthy and we had to wash all dishes and wipe out the drawers. The dishwasher was broken. But worst of all: we were terrorized by rats all over the property outdoors the next day. The ran on to the seond-story porch in the middle of the day and were totally unfazed by screaming, stomping and the hose. They gathered near the doors and we could not go outside without a broom to shoo them away. None of the outside lights worked, so leaving that evening was not an option as the rats seemed determined to get inside. We fled the property as soon as the rental office opened the next day, with one us on rat watch with two brooms. The office manager seemed more concerned with the broken dishwasher than the rats. The owner was awesome and gave a refund, but the officer manager indicated that they should have had the opportunity to remedy the situation. As if a rat infestation can be quickly remedied! In other words, according to the office, we should have spent our vacation dealing with rats and exterminators. They also claimed the home had just been sideswiped by a bus the week before (? Don’t ask!) and wanted to do repairs during our stay, yet a review from over a month prior referenced the same damage. Very...
