We have stayed in two of the twelve individually-owned units in this building at Folly Beach, managed by Folly’s Best Rentals. Both do not present as pictured. Obviously photoshopped. Old ugly appliances, old scarred floors, old scratched up furniture, dirty walls, tiny rooms. Not well cared for. We have chosen this location because we like the covered porches and seating facing the ocean and they allow pets. The biggest convenience and pleasure for us is sitting in the shade with our dogs on the porch and looking out at the ocean. We like the natural, duned setting. But the 1-D Ful unit on Arctic Avenue we stayed in this time is just totally uncomfortable and icky. We arrived yesterday to find that the City of Folly Beach is “re-nourishing” the beach from one end to the other all summer long. This week, our week, the multiple bulldozers, orange netting, and caution signs are the main attraction in front of our ocean horizon view. They are pumping water in and moving mud 24-7. Literally through the night. All the other tenants who have arrived were as shocked and disappointed as we were. The office at Folly’s Best Rentals just says they pointed out the “re-nourishing” project in the lease agreement. Well, I guess we all have been pretty naive. At any rate, here we sit, in squalor and mud. I will never. Never stay in Folly Beach again. What an inconsiderate thing to do to their patrons. Plus, Folly’s Best Rentals should have written us all personal emails going into detail as to the extent of this project and how horrifically it would affect our $3000+ vacations. So far they are ignoring requests for financial compensation. The building next to us is managed by Vacasa and Vacasa is reimbursing those tenants 25%. No response from Folly’s “Best.” They also will not allow my honest review on the review section of the 1-D Ful unit we stayed in on Arctic Avenue.

Our stay at Tres Amigos was awesome. I only took videos, so I tried to screenshot from them. My pics do not do it justice. The home is near Center St. with all the businesses/restaurants- very walkable. Beach access path is right next to the house. There’s a golf cart rental next door and the hosts provided us discount codes. Driveway - 2 SUVs and a golf cart can fit. Lots of people out and about. We were female only group & felt safe, no issues at all. Fenced in and shady yard is a plus. The interior was open, bright, clean, spacious. Everything looks clean and new. They gave us soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, detergent pods for laundry, dishwasher, sponges , dishwashing liquid, etc., paper towels, toilet paper, ample towels, extra blankets in closets, trash bags. Many food utensils, plates, pots, pans, bakeware are present. Ample storage space in kitchen. I’d recommend bringing your oils, seasonings of choice for making your food. Harris Teeter and Publix are a quick drive.Bring extra hangers if you have lots of clothes. We loved the home and the hosts, will be back!

I stayed at a Best rentals location at 515 W. Ashley. The power went out and they could not get the units power turned back on as it had a electrical safety issue. They moved us into another unit down the road promised a refund and a credit for transportation they promised they would move our goods for us as my wife was at the unit with four kids with no power, while I was at a conference an hour away with no vehicle. We moved from a 4 bed single family home directly on beach They moved us to a 5 story condo with 4 beds 2 of the bedrooms we on the roof patio Not great for a family with 4 kids under 7 They moved me into a moldy unit pictures attached. They moved only a few things. I spent days during our vacation moving the items over. I spent 2534.56 They offered me $250 credit The on-site associate was an absolute pleasure to work with. However, whoever is in charge of fixing the issue drop the ball here I find it absurd for two of the five days of my vacation to be ruined, and only receive first of the 10% credit.

Disgusting and Terrible rental! I would absolutely question the ethics and professional standards of all affiliated “property managers” on The “Best” Rentals team. The only positive is that this rental is on the beach and that is literally all!! First night in rental- ac ceiling vents all dripping water in all rooms.. therefore sofa wet, beds wet and Sheetrock falling off of roof and no air coming out of master bedroom vent. Garbage all around the yard area and vegetation so over grown that we had to clear a path to the beach access stairs and not much of a view from the house if you sit down. All stair ways and All decks are barely safe - and literally could see the daylight through all exterior door frames from the inside. Which initially made me giggle with all the warnings about not running the ac with doors and windows open.??? Really???!! the inside has so much deferred maintenance that it literally got worse day by day, clearly a known situation for this house as there are several handyman “band aids”everywhere..All these warnings about tenant liable for main house ac unit over working but not a single return had a clean air filter and all bedrooms had a rusted out units in the windows circa 1990 - so dirty that I fear for what we were breathing let alone their inability to actually keep anything cooled or a clean filter. Electric breaker for one bedroom would pop off consistently meaning that bedrooms ceiling fan and ac unit wouldn’t stay powered on and that shared bathroom wouldn’t have any power!!!!! tried to get through the night by Completely unplugging that bedroom’s ac unit just so we could keep the ceiling fan on and have some kind of light if the restroom was needed but that didn’t remedy anything. Scared to know why that even happens… Also upon arrival there were cockroaches in the bedroom and terrible bath towels and linens. Also main tv has three remotes that were on voice control , turning them on and off randomly until I finally just took out the batteries, rediculous that keeping the tv on or off was such a battle in the first place. This is insane that any human being would be okay renting out a place in this condition and at the rates that were charged. I would’ve embraced more honesty and chosen a different rental at a higher nightly rate than to burden our vacation with all of this bs. This quite possibly could be the last vacation I take with my mother due to her health and to know the amount of money spent to give us beach front memory, that is now tainted with this unethical “best” rental! It’s disgusting and even worse that you think you’re professionals- this is not a property management company it’s an overpriced booking secretary…at least the websites would’ve had...

My family rented an older beach bungalow managed by Folly’s Best Rentals for a four day weekend. The property was in a great location at 111 East Erie on Folly. We typically like the character of the older properties and don’t have high expectations for amenities- just looking for a place to sleep, shower, do laundry, and eat a light meal. This rental obviously had not been properly maintained or inspected prior to our arrival. The washing machine didn’t work during our entire stay, the bathtub did not drain, the bathtub made gurgling sounds when the toilet was flushed, the door on the screen porch was broken, extreme issues with water pressure, toilet did not flush properly, and only 2 ice trays with holes in the bottom. We requested to have the issues repaired and a maintenance person did come out three times during our stay. Several of the issues were resolved on the second and third days of our stay. Based on the multitude of problems and the fact that these were all existing maintenance issues prior to our arrival, I asked for a 25% discount on our stay. Melissa, with Folly’s Best Rentals, refused and instead offered a $100 discount. At one point during our conversation, Melissa eluded that we must have broken the lid on the washing machine ourselves. We rejected the offer of a $100 discount and instead have disputed the charge with our credit card company. Based on this experience, we will never again stay at properties managed by Folly’s Best Rentals.

RESPONSE: I never “advised” that I would write negative reviews if I didn’t get a free nights stay. I simply stated that I would give you an opportunity to resolve the issue before I reviewed our stay. As I mentioned in my comments above, maintenance personnel did come to the property 3 times, and some of the issues were resolved on the second and third day. However, this doesn’t change the fact that the property was poorly maintained and not properly inspected prior to our arrival. Also, doing one load of our laundry during office hours didn’t suffice for being without laundry services the remaining 3.5 days...

This is the most unreasonable property management company I have ever worked with. I think they are extremely rigid and strict in their rules so RENTER BEWARE. I booked a rental online after 8 PM on a Sunday evening and called 37 hours later on Tuesday morning letting them know I needed to cancel the reservation. They said they had a policy of no refunds if cancellation was before 90 days. I was booking 75 days out so that meant I could not cancel under any circumstances. Melissa said there is 24 hours to cancel but she also said you could not be refunded less than 90 days out so which it is? So if I canceled at 8:30 PM on Monday night that really would have made such a big difference than when I did it 9 AM Tuesday morning. Sorry I do not believe it...it is just a way of taking money that is not earned. So my call was 13 hours past what they say is the deadline…really. So they felt it was ethical and fair to charge me $832 for absolutely nothing…for 37 hours they charge that kind of fee is outrageous. If you book through VRBO note once you get a confirmation this management company says they do not see communication and no longer respond to any emails from that website of course that is not listed anywhere. It does say to cancel in writing which I did through the website. Of course they respond when you send money. I got absolutely nothing for that deposit. I canceled in a very quick time frame. I have disputed with my credit card and I hope they will not allow them to get away with this very unreasonable policy. So if they rent this property to someone else they have collected a lot of money and I got NOTHING. I guess I should have waited 31 days before the date of the rental time to cancel since they are not refunding me anyway but that is not right so I did not do that. So now they have a chance to do this to someone else and they have almost the same amount of time to rent this place as they did before I contacted them and I am out $832. You should be ashamed of this kind of...
