I have been to Folsom several times, but this was my first visiting the Powerhouse State Historic Park. The best part about the park is it's free. It has a visitor center with an interactive science component, a lovely park to have a picnic at, and the historic plant.
I really enjoyed the visitor center with all the archival photos. Did you know Sacramento had an electrical parade? It's something they should bring back. The plant was incredible as well, and several of the pipes had windows you could peek in to see how it worked. There are not a lot of labels or signage, so please ask the docent any questions you have. He is quite knowledable.

My husband and I were searching for spots to take pictures with our son. We've noticed several of my friends who have done their photo-shoot here. Anyways, we decided for fun to come and check out this place. This is a great historical site, perfect place for picnic, bring your kids out and show them how electricity is generated.
