I have no idea which Pete's the rest of the reviewers are referring to, but the Pete's Brewhouse in Ashland Station in Folsom is absolutely dreadful. I am not from the area, but have been there three times in three months because of the constant positive talk about it. So, to sum up my three visits: (1) The service that I encountered at Pete's today is the worst service I have encountered in a restaurant outside of a really bad Sanborn's in Hermosillo, Mexico where I ate in 2001 (which is still the worst service I have ever dealt with). On two of the three occasions I have been to Pete's, it took forever to even get service. When the service did arrive, it was generally not good (disinterested/disgruntled or otherwise absent-minded servers), and when we asked for the bill it generally took forever to arrive. Today we sat at the bar and, while the other servers who we greeted were friendly, the person working behind the bar behaved as if she did not want to be there, and did not want us either - she also had a short memory and had to be asked for condiments more than once, as she seemed to immediately forgotten our request (and counting us there were only two other people at the bar). (2) The food is lacking, to say the least (both quality-wise and quantity-wise). The first time I visited Pete's, we ordered pizza. Our pizza was bland and lacking in basic flavor (salt!). I am no sodium addict, but for the love of Pete (pun intended) put some salt on your pizzas! How can you mess up a pizza with chicken, bacon, onions, artichoke hearts and a "creamy garlic sauce"? . On the second visit I went with my sister's family and while the service was "OK", the pizza again was very much akin to eating slightly seasoned tree-bark. Not only that, but we ordered the Calamari, which was actually OK, but the portion size was laughable. I think it was just about 3/4 - 1 cup of Calamari to the tune of around $12. Again, it took forever to get our bill. Finally, I gave it one last go today for lunch. While I will say that the fries were good, and the burger my father had was decent, the rest of the meal was simply awful. My mother ordered the breaded fish tacos. The contents of the tacos lacked any semblance of kitchen imagination and tasted like fish-sticks with cabbage, topped with thousand-island dressing. The "tortillas" were so tough I was actually glad to have all my canine teeth intact so as to be able to tear them apart - they were nearly inedible. I had a "BLT", which consisted of nearly stale, over-toasted bread. Each half of the "sandwich" consisted of one small strip of cold, over-fried bacon (it was extremely dry), one small slice of soggy tomato and one small wilted leaf of lettuce. I can honestly say that it was, by far, not only the worst BLT I have ever had in my life, but probably the worst sandwich I have ever paid for - it was laughable. So, to sum up: I think that the people that eat at Pete's and leave rave reviews never leave Folsom, or are employees of Pete's who leave said reviews to boost business. This place (and I tried to like it) is abysmal. I wouldn't eat there again if they offered me a lifetime...
Read moreGreat place to go if you have the time to wait.
Food Great, Locations Great, Seating Great. They were really understaff and very busy, which caused to a lot of miscommunication that we fell victim too.
Called ahead to see if we needed resv. for 2. They said no. We came 20 mins later and they told us we had to wait 25 mins :(
After waiting, we were brought to our table. I dont think the hostess told a waiter to serv us, because 20 mins went by until I had to get up and ask for a waiter.
23 mins after that a nice young lady came to ask if we have been servers, which we said no, and apologized and took our order and gave us some water.
43 mins later our food came and drinks we had order. (We got here 91 mins ago) .While eating our delicious food, we never saw our server again. I felt a little annoyed and sad for the staff. Either they were so busy that they couldn't even stop by to see how we were doing or get the check Or they were so busy that they just forgot we were there.
We just walked up to where we saw a machine and waited for a waiter to walk by and let them know were leaving.
Needless to say If I was in a time restraint, or a bad mood which took the staff behavior as personal I would of been very upset. It was because I had such pleasant company that the night wasn't tarnished by this poor experience.
We arrived at 7pm, and we were finally able to pay the bill at 9:20
We wont be going back to location again sadly. Being invisible is not a comfortable feeling...
Read moreMy family and I came here Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving, because we love Pete's. When we walked in, we were greeted, and I explained that there were 4 adults and 2 children. That doesn't seem like an unreasonable amount of people. I was told that they were full, but she would check to see what they could do. We fully expected to wait, especially the day before a holiday, which was fine. When she came back she explained that they are currently full, and paused as if we did not have the option to wait. I asked how long would it be if we waited? She looked confused, and said she would be back. She went into the kitchen and out came what looked like the manager, and he looked at her, saying he would take care of this, and she walked away. He looked around, and told us that they were full, and paused like the previous employee did, as if it was expected for us to leave. We felt as though we were not welcome, in a restaurant that clearly had a few empty tables, that just needed to be cleared. My family and I love Pete's but after the issue with just wanting to be seated, instead of pushed out the door at this folsom location, we will be making the extra drive to the midtown location. The service was average, and unfriendly. Hopefully it was just...
