An update - I decided to try a graduate program online thinking most likely things have changed in the decade since I went here and then earned my first M.S. (elsewhere, ha!). I was admitted but have come to learn the advising is pretty much non-existent, very self-serve. The financial aid dept is probably the worst thing I’ve encountered since Comcast customer service. Trying to charge out of state tuition over a driver license even though I’ve been able to prove domicile here for over 4 years? Watch out!!
Everywhere you turn, it’s a “NO” - roadblocks systematically designed so you can’t quickly get things done. Eager front desk staff just waiting to deny whatever it is you need help with, instead of being supportive and nurturing like a college should be. Time is money and CSU is sucking our time away like none other.
This school needs major organizational lean initiatives enacted, it’s laughably inefficient.
Maybe it’s because their staff gets paid so poorly the staff perform to that level? Shame on CSU. I tried complaining to a baby boomer, their reply was, it’s been that way since I went there in 1974! lol.
—— Original review:
I had a pretty poor experience here. Not worth the costs. I went to UNC and CSU, in hindsight UNC has better systems in place to focus on success of the individual person. CSU seemed like a giant business with a revolving diploma door, as long as you can pay to pass through. While alumni to CSU I am, I unfortunately would reconsider going here if you’re in any way a non-traditional student, transfer student, mature student, or financially tight. The new stadium is nice but when I went there it was high priority over classrooms falling apart, a sad fact of Tony’s...
Read moreThis college is good if you're a very specific type of person. The requirements are: Just out of high school Plan to go four years No Disabilities Planning on moving into the dormitories Not a transfer student And a little bit of a lot of money
Generally, for me, the one that's the biggest problem is their disabilities department. I don't know how I'm paying so much money for this school and their disabilities department can only afford five testing rooms. During finals week, I found out that I could only get an hour and 30 minutes of test time instead of the two hours and thirty minutes I was supposed to get for the final and one of my classes. I ditched the testing center and talked with my teacher and I was able to get the full two hours and thirty minutes back. Yes, that's right, the disability department is so incompetent at what they do that going into a teacher and working it out was a better option.
Other than that, the school is nice except for where they put all the People who are not focused on getting engineering or agricultural students. They have good professors sometimes. It's just really expensive and If you transfer there, they give you the lowest priority in picking classes. Overall, if you have a very specific path in Fort Collinsis what you need, to go for it. But if you just need a general school, I would choose...
Read morethe only reason this review is not 1 star is because i really love my professors
csu claims to pride itself on "rams supporting rams" but then they themselves continually undermine that especially when it comes to disabled students. the campus is near inaccessible if you have mobility issues - and dont go to the disabilities department for help, they're almost useless. most if not all buildings have ada door buttons, but at least half dont work, and nevermind with the bathrooms. they claim lack of funding and such, the usual runaround, but then, this school somehow has the money to afford 12 on campus billboards - breaking city laws about no billboards inside city limits - and yet can't afford to fix the ada door buttons in the engineering building, hawthorne, clark a and c, eddy hall, plant sciences, animal sciences, libby, and can't afford carts to help disabled students get to class. but sure. rams support rams.
and also the parking situation is godawful. if you buy a parking permit, you won't get a spot because they put in pay to park meters in every lot so its just a free for all. you pay $675 per year to get a spot because you're commuting in, but someone who's there for the day from out of state gets to park in the commuter parking because they can just pay $5 for the day and...
