The first time we stayed here it was fantastic. But then again we stayed when the motel was full of high school students there for the science fair at CSU. We came back last weekend to tour CSU so decided to stay again since it was so great. Not the case this time. We got in town early and asked if we could check in. I was told very bluntly by Kim that they have a 3:00 check-in. Yes, I know but sometimes you can get in early. I asked if we could park there since we were literally walking across the street and she made sure to let me know I needed a parking pass. She would give me one early but made sure that I knew she would be marking my account as already receiving parking pass so we can't get another one. Ok....no need to be rude. When we did check in I was told by Kevin that there is a $100 deposit per room (I booked 2) WHAT??No one told me this and I called an actually spoke to Kim when making the reservation so I could get adjoining rooms. She also neglected to tell me they charge for parking. Neither of this is in their website. Not very transparent with what you will be charged when you show up. Kevin, at check-in was nice enough to not put a $200 hold on my credit card for deposit but also didn't tell me about the parking charges. They will automatically charge you parking based on the number of rooms not the number of cars. Hmmm...how does that work? The rooms are fine. It is an old building but clean. We were in rooms 202 and 203. Room 204 was the party room. Thankfully at 10:30 a car full of girls with a lot of beer decided to leave. Oh but wait...they will be back. Finally at 1:00 am I called the desk as well as spoke to those in room 204. They continued until 2:30. I was ready to pack it up at 1:00 and try to drive 2.5 hours home but decided it was safer to at least get some sleep. I wish I had known if I kept calling the front desk that eventually the sheriffs would have shown up. (1st call staff will tell them to stop. 2nd call motel staff will go to room and verify ID and if you are not n the room registration you will be asked to leave. 3rd call, the motel staff will call the sheriff and have you removed) Breakfast was decent. They had it pretty good under the circumstances. I spoke with Josh when I got home about the parking and he did take off the charge for the car I didn't have. He then had Ashley call me, she said she went to the office just to call me. Doubtful but nice sentiment. She so kindly took off the other parking charge. If you want a party hotel then this is probably a great place to stay especially for those at CSU. f you are a family then I would go elsewhere. By the way...stay at a Marriot. It was the same price just not across the street from the campus. Marriott is a MUCH nice hotel who would never, in my experience, put up with the loud parties. I was hoping this would be a great place if my daughter attends CSU since it is close. Bummed...

I spent a week here and probably would have rated it higher if I wasn't spending 150 a night for the pleasure. Here are a list of things you have to deal with for the premium: 1.) No early check in unless you want to pay even more. I showed up 30 minutes early because my classes ended early and the front desk people said I would be charged an early check in fee and didn't even ask if that's what I wanted to do, so I walked out until later. 2.) The parking is 15 dollars a night and was horrible. There were spots that couldn't fit a car that people were parking in and other people brought trailers and crap and blocked any ability to park or back out. It's a free for all with no enforcement so good luck getting out early if someone shows up at midnight blocking you in. 3.) The roofs don't have gutters so when it rains, it down pours all the rain onto you when you try to get to your car, picture attached. 4.) The wifi is slower than my uncles farm way out on eastern colorado. Picture attached. You'd think there would be workable internet in down town Fort Collins but nope. Good luck if you have homework like me or a job that needs a video feed. I used my phone internet. 5.)The rooms are falling apart. Paint is peeling off the walls, doors, and trim. The trim was falling off the wall in some places. I forgot to grab a picture of it. 6.) The AC struggles to get the room cool at all. It was 70 degrees outside most of the time I was here. I left the AC on to 66 and it only got to 68 as the coldest. Picture attached. Thank God it wasn't hotter or I would have melted at night. 7.)There are no wall outlets that are unused to plug in labtop/ phone chargers etc. They have lamps in the rooms with outlets but they are so old, the ports don't work at all, or they slip out with the tiniest breeze hitting it. Massive fire safety hazard. 8.) There are no door or shower curtain on the showers. So as soon as you turn on the water it jets water everywhere. The shower is in a tiny room with the toilet. So anytime you use the shower you have to clean the floor unless you want wet feet. The water will sit there all day even with the fan on. Pictures attached. So for 150 dollars a night, you too can feel like an Airbnb guest. 9.) This place allows dogs so good luck sleeping at night when people show up at midnight with their loud barking dogs and the walls are so paper thin you can hear a lot of what the neighbors are doing.
The reason I rated 2 stars and not 1 is that I didn't get bed bugs so thanks for meeting minimum standards for any hotel? But other than that it was a motel 6 experience. I would have rated it a 4/5 if it was 70 dollars a night because it would have been slightly more comfortable than a normal motel, but nope. Save headaches and spend like 5 more dollars a night and go to the Hilton...
Read moreI understand that early check in is subject to room availability so I followed up my initial request with a phone call early on my day of arrival to check in. The front desk person, Corey, assured me that it would be no problem if I checked in anytime between 10 and 12. I made my plans based on this information and arrived at the hotel at around 10:30 and was informed by Brandon that Corey was mistaken and that no rooms were available at that time and I'd have to wait to check in until one was and he didn't know when that would be. I was finally able to check in at around 1 PM after spending 2 1/2 hours wandering around the city. I mentioned to Brandon at check in that I wanted to use my $70 of Best Western $10 per night bonus credit and provided him with the appropriate code. He provided me with a receipt, however on check out 3 days later I was informed by Kevin at the front desk that no such credit was applied to my bill and that Brandon must not have done the paperwork correctly. Eventually Kevin was able to make a readjustment but again I wasted a lot time and had a lot of aggravation because of staff errors. In addition, I was surprised by how dangerously slippery the tub surface in my room was. There were no traction anti slip strips and no rubber mat to provide safe footing. I called the front desk that evening and was informed that they'd look for a rubber mat and if they could find one they would deliver it to my room. When I did not receive a bath mat that evening, the next morning I made another request to the person at the front desk and did receive one a half hour later. The initial oversight and delay in fixing this hazardous condition was unacceptable and along with the misinformation and billing mistakes were the reasons for rating this hotel much lower than my ratings of my previous stays at other Best Western hotels. On the positive side, the breakfast lady was very pleasant...
