The Westin Fort Lauderdale

The unexpected experience I had at this hotel. I stayed at the hotel for 2 days. Upon check-in, I notice the shower has some spotting of mold. I was too tired from traveling since 4am to even bother with a room change or late housekeeping. Later in the night, I went to shower and the tub was not draining properly, causing me to shower in spurts of time so I could allow drainage. I was literally standing in a great puddle of water. I made note of it and planned to call early the next morning to report the issue. The next morning, my boyfriend showered and it happened again of course and I called the front desk to make the hotel aware. I explained the tub issue to the young lady (I apologize for not obtaining her name) and told her that someone needs to come and fix it. I also said to her additionally that I would need housekeeping because the tub was now dirty. She responded with, housekeeping will not be able to come as it has to be requested 24 hours in advance and engineering will have to come out tomorrow. You could imagine how shocked I was because of 2 things: (1) I was not informed that housekeeping had to be requested 24 HOURS in advance and (2) I was checking out the next day so the tub issue would not be resolved. Out of pure shock (because this is not the Marriott standard) I responded to her and asked her to see if she can expedite the request today and please make a note of it so the next guest in this room does not run into the same issue. She told me "I will see what I can do". Well, obviously, that meant nothing because she did not communicate whether or not she was able to get in contact with housekeeping and/or engineering. So hours later and a puddled shower, I went out to purchase some environmentally friendly cleaner and cleaned it myself. I also requested additional towels in the app since housekeeping did not come and I disposed of my trash. I do have some pictures that I can provide, if needed.

This visit was for business as I am a wedding coordinator on a tight schedule so I was not able to address anything at that time. I am a Silver Elite member of Marriott and also a travel agent that likes to book my clients for hotel accommodations at most Marriott properties. This was surely a huge surprise for me because again, this is not a Marriott standard.
