The night before I stayed in a Hampton Inn in Key Largo and I was so overwhelmed with the customer service and the property as well as the location. The people at the front desk could not be any friendlier, they even offer you chocolate chip cookies when you check in and every time you go by the lobby if you want one, get it as many as you like. I may have gotten to the entire trip but they were so nice and friendly and then I get to this location that I go to the room and it has no remote control so I go to the front desk and request it but I had to wait my turn which I have no problem waiting my turn. But once I wait my turn and request a remote control and then it never arrived and I go out and eat lunch and then I come back and it still has not arrived. I just fiddle with the TV until I got it on but we all have remote controls for a reason. We don't want to have to be pushing buttons on the side of a large screen tv. We want the convenience of sitting at our desk working or in bed and use the remote control so I went back to the front desk and the person at the front desk admitted they forgot to request it and the lady who's in charge of housekeeping was off but she was so consider it nice that she wanted to make a difference to me and she made a difference but the person that was in charge of getting it is the one that I give this bad rating for. There was no ice available in the ice machine on the first floor or the second floor so if you wanted ice and you were on those two floors you had to ride up to the third floor to get ice. In the parking lot I have a person come up to me three different times as if they didn't recognize me and ask me for money. I came in late that night after going to the soccer match and I heard the young lady at the front desk asking the person if they have a car and they said yes and she said you need to have this card in your car or your car may be towed. So I perked up because I know the person I checked in with did not give me a card so I asked for the card and said will they tow it and they said a very good possibility or you'll be fine. So as you can tell the customer service was absolutely horrid for me other than the one lady who is the head of housekeeping. Regarding restaurants around, they're definitely not walking distance except the one across the street. I love Hilton but this particular Hampton is probably my...
Read moreOverall the place is fine. My family had two rooms the weekend of November 7, 2020. To start, the staff was great. Max is whom we spoke with on the phone when first setting up our reservation, was the one that checked us in when we arrived for our stay, and was the one present at checkout. He was great. Like many reviews already state, the hotel is old and in need of an update. Our rooms had a slight smell to them, but one of them (307) had black mold on the ceiling in the bathroom (see attached pictures). The carpet floor was uneven in the hallway as you'd walk down it making it difficult for our eldest in the family. The pool was okay. It had about a dozen dead bugs just floating in it but we didn't let that stop us from enjoying a quick swim. The hot tub was fantastic - a very relaxing temperature with great pressure coming from the jets. The clock next to it though is massively out of since and not displaying the correct time. The 'breakfast' they give you is really poor. It contained a nutrigrain bar, apple, orange, and a banana-nut muffin. You could also get cereal, milk, coffee and juices. It was also not available very long (between 6:00 and 8:00am). However, Max did tell us this was the case due to Covid-19 at check-in. The beds and pillows were comfortable and there were two window shades to pull down that really helped to keep out the light. The only other downside is you can't turn left when leaving the hotel - you must turn right and then make a U-turn. So in total, I'd give this place a 7 out of 10 as it serves its purpose but could be better, but since you can only rate out of 5 stars I'm rounding down to 3 as it falls short from deserving a 4...
Read moreBEWARE! This hotel is NOT IN A SAFE AREA!
I was with a group this weekend of several dozen parents with kids who booked this hotel (not by choice) for a volleyball tournament at the convention center. One mom awoke this morning (Jan. 23, 2022) and took suitcases out to her car around 5:45. A half hour later she went back out again and found her rear window broken and all of her things gone through. Her car was not alone. In all there were 6 vehicles with rear windows busted out and things stolen. 4 of the cars were people in our group! (Scroll and you will find more reviews that say the same thing happened to them!)
Noteworthy is that as travelers we sometimes will send our daughters out to the car, right? Well clearly the people who did this were still in the parking lot between 5:45 and 6:30 so what if one of the girls would have stumbled on one of these people in the act?
Since this is not the first time this has happened in this hotel and the hotel has not installed ANY security features like cameras or fencing - the hotel is partly responsible for this.
Also it’s noteworthy that the hotel itself isn’t in the best condition aesthetically and many of the parents in our group complained that they felt their rooms were not clean. We were there only 2 nights and in the middle of the 2nd night I realized…all too late…that we were totally out of toilet paper. This hotel would be more properly priced at around $60/night - not the $200/night they charged. For $200/night your should feel safe and have something to wipe your bottom with.
Overall I DO NOT RECOMMEND staying here. It is overpriced...
