This place was an unexpected surprise! It's beautifully restored. Jennifer, the registrar, gave me an excellent tour and made me realize it's a "house museum" as well as a "lifestyle museum". If you want your kids to understand how people lived in the 1800s, take them here. Jennifer explains how people used the rooms and the furniture. As example: not every mirror in the house was for looking in. Some were for reflecting light across dark rooms. I'm giving this place five stars because it does one of the best jobs I've ever seen of educating us about how earlier generations lived. And it does so in a really cool and beautiful way. ...

The ceremony was booked for using the white Victorian designed Gazebo, but since I arrived early she welcomed me inside the historical home (Museum) to wait for the couple, their family and photographer. I gladly accepted since the temperature outside was quickly rising. She was very helpful and quickly helped her guests to solve any problems that they encountered while they got themselves ready for the ceremony. The home itself is stunning and full of history, but what really made the visit special was our tour guide. She was absolutely wonderful and so knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about not only the Clayton family and the home, but also the history of the entire area.
