Edited after response from the owner: The fact that your only response to my review is that the manicure part goes at the end is not enough justification for the treatment I received as a paying customer. If you were very aware of me wanting the manicure part, then why did my tech say I was all done and acted like she genuinely had no idea I wanted it? Would I have been charged for a manicure or just a full set? And why was I not offered a receipt so I could see what exactly I was charged for?
Such a disappointment. This was my first time trying this place. I asked for a manicure with French tip acrylic when I walked in. By the time the girl got half way through applying the acrylic a woman came around with an iPad asking me my name and what I was having done. I again stated I wanted a manicure and I was wondering about why I hadn’t gotten that done before and the guy who helped me get seated was behind me and acted like he didn’t know that’s what I asked for. And when the girl asked what type I had to tell her I didn’t know, because Boone gave me a menu or options or anything. How are you supposed to know what you want or what services are available if they don’t give the customers those options? So she brought me the menu and said that they don’t do the manicure part first. They do it at the end. Great. I get my nails done. 1 hour and 45 minutes later. I have no complaints about my nail tech, she was very sweet, but when she pulled out the gel polish, I told her I was wanting acrylic. She said she would be doing the French tip part with the gel. But that’s not what I asked for. I’m already frazzled and feel like it’s gonna be too much to even say that. She gets them finished, adds a little cuticle oil, and says that I was all done. Again, manicure? The same man was standing behind me and I stood up to see if maybe the manicure part is at a different spot with a different person? No, he asked me if I was all done, I could check out. So I asked him what about the manicure part? And he AGAIN acted like he had no idea that’s what I asked for and said if that’s what I want then they can do that and the nail tech acted like she had no idea either. What was the point of the girl walking around asking me for my information and what I wanted done for? At that point I was very upset and just said I was ready to go. I checked out and he tried to charge me $65 and I asked if that was without the manicure charge and he asked to look at my nails and then said $60. I paid, and was not given a receipt or even asked if I wanted one. So I don’t even know what I was completely charged for. Honestly, just a completely unprofessional situation from...
Read moreI want to start by saying this isn’t a negative review, but rather constructive feedback because I see a lot of potential in this salon. I booked a builder gel manicure and a deluxe pedicure.
The pedicure was nice overall, but the massage felt more like a light rubbing rather than an actual massage. Aside from that, it was a good experience.
However, I was disappointed with the builder gel service, especially considering I booked with the salon’s top nail artist. I’ve been to many salons, including high-end ones, so I have a strong understanding of quality builder gel application. Unfortunately, I found that the technique here lacked the precision and structure necessary for a proper builder gel manicure.
My nail tech applied the builder gel too quickly, skipped building an apex, and was about to proceed with dip powder, which I didn’t book. I also had to remind her that I had booked a manicure along with the builder gel. Builder gel requires meticulous sculpting, even more so than acrylic, but there was no effort to create strength or structure in the nails. My nails are completely flat, with no apex to provide durability, something that is especially important for longer nails or enhancements.
Additionally, there are air bubbles trapped in the gel, which makes me concerned about lifting and premature chipping. My usual nail tech in Dallas takes at least 20 minutes per hand just to properly build the base, ensuring longevity and a flawless finish. That level of detail was missing here.
I chose not to speak up in the moment because this isn’t just a one-time issue that can be fixed, it’s a genuine skill issue. I truly believe the nail techs here would benefit from additional training, classes, or webinars specifically focused on builder gel application. This kind of skill is done extremely well by Polish and Russian nail artists who offee very accessible online webinars to teach others. If the salon intends to charge $85 for this service alone (without even the manicure 🤦🏾♀️), the quality should reflect that price. Otherwise, I would suggest offering builder gel at a lower, more appropriate rate until the technique is mastered.
Thankfully, I used a promo, so I don’t feel that my experience was a complete loss. However, having experienced exceptional builder gel work elsewhere, I know what quality application requires, and I would love to see this salon invest in their nail techs to reach that level because the customer service is very patient and very kind!! The potential is there, but as of now, I would consider the service...
Read more“Best of Fort Worh” must only apply to certain clients, because my experience was anything but. Came with a friend while we were out of town and were treated so poorly by the staff. I originally wanted a full acrylic set. The guy tried to convince me to keep my nails so he could just do a fill and the girl doing my pedicure tried to convince me to get a more expensive pedicure than I requested. I guess that upset her because my “massage” was basically just her moving her hands up and down my foot—no pressure or massaging whatsoever.
I changed my mind on the acrylic because I really liked a gel x color. When he starts doing my nails he starts laying acrylic. ??????? Then he tells me he’s just going to put the gel polish on top of the acrylic. ?????? He clearly just didn’t want to give me a full set. He then tries to tell me I’m the one who confused him because I originally asked for acrylic—yes, and then changed my mind. He tried to argue with me for so long that the guy doing my friend’s nails said, “She wants Gel x. Just do it.” The guy eventually just gets someone else to do my nails (thank goodness.)
Then when it was time for my friend to pick her color she couldn’t remember the number so she asked to see the books again. The guy doing her nails sighs, stands up, rolls his eyes and walks off. He brought her one book and it wasn’t in there. My friend repeats several times she believes the color is in a pink book. He brings her another book (not pink) and when it isn’t in there, he SNATCHED the book from her hands. The lady doing my toes had to tell him to bring her the pink book—which is exactly where the color was.
I’ve seen a few reviews from other Black women saying their experiences were similar or that their nails were sloppy, and I can’t help but conclude that that is how Black people can expect to be treated when being serviced here. The behavior was inexcusable and unnecessary, ESPECIALLY when they received $250 from us. Our money is just as good as anyone else’s, but they will never see it again.
UPDATE: The nails aren’t even lasting. The clear coat on the INSIDE of my nails is literally peeling off. The clear coat on the outside of my friends chipped and then peeled off like tape. To be rude AND do a poor job is sad. She also did not file my toenails straight across as asked so less than 2 weeks later I already have an ingrown....
