Well, 203 reviews, all 5 star. Honestly I don't even know why I am writing this LOL! I have been trusting Mimi's for some odd small resizing and repairs for the last ten years or so. I love that this is a family run family owned business and the team is still here for so long. That kind of employee tenure says a lot. The storefront is beautiful and easily accessible, and the store is well-lit and inviting with a dazzling display of items which range from the dainty to the majestic. So there's something for everyone. But I moved out of California to Idaho and I found my way back to California and commissioned the technicians at Mimi's to remake my engagement ring setting. I was given a very reasonable fee and turnover time, along with overnight fedex service to my home. The CAD/CAM draft sent to me was spot on accurate and proportional, and they even sent me some stunning photography of their finished work I can include in the updated insurance paperwork. I think buying their jewelry is a wonderful experience, but coming to them for a custom job requires special attention and expertise. I wanted to merge a wedding band and engagement ring made with all princess cut stones and I had a really beautiful, really quite unique, result that I am so happy with and that I love to look at on my hand. It is also very comfortable and effortless to wear now whereas the former set up not as much, and that was really one of my top priorities. If I am willing to travel over 2,000 miles to visit family and wait to schedule this work done here, then this review is legit!! If you love jewelry, if you have legacy jewelry, or want to create custom pieces, repair or modify anything, you can trust Mimi's team to help your vision come true. I actually have two people who I have only ever entrusted with my jewelry, and one was a patient of mine whose family I treated - and once I believe she retired, Mimi's. Having a personal relationship with a jeweler is important, I think, because so often jewelry has significant...
Read moreI was made aware of Mimi's Jewelry after seeing an engagement ring a friend presented to his future wife. Needless to say I was amazed at the quality of work and after further research, I found out that Mimi's continue to be voted one of OC's best custom jeweler year after year. As I was in the market to propose, these were tell tale signs that I should pay them a visit.
From the very first encounter, the staff at Mimi's were nothing short of amazing. I was pretty particular in designs and David along with his staff took the time to meticulously go over pertinent details that really helped put my anxiety to rest. The end result was well beyond my expectations as I remember just not getting over how beautiful the ring I had conceived turn out! My fiancée gets asked about her ring all the time by strangers whenever we go out now.
I just picked up some custom earrings for a traditional wedding tea ceremony and once again Mimi's came through with an amazing set that matched the engagement ring perfectly. I look forward to coming in every time and the staff just makes everything so enjoyable. We'll be back soon for the wedding bands and I KNOW that they will be awesome which just gets me so giddy.
I now have a trusted jeweler which isnt something many guys list as a high priority but just knowing that I have a dependable place to come to and recommend to family and friends takes the guess work out of jewelry shopping. Mimi's is not only exceptional in customer service but they go out of their way to work within your budget to make any special occasion...
Read moreI have debated for years about posting a review about this. It still bothers me to this day. I bought a men's gold ring from the original owner, Mimi. She was very kind and personable with my kid. I later noticed an imperfection in one of the diamonds to which she simply said well its not that high of a quality. I came back and got an ok deal on an 18k yellow gold band, then I met Her son, David. He was very polite and professional. We then started talking about watches and he observed my Tudor watch I was wearing. Still Unsatisfied with my diamond quality, He mentioned that he also buys watches and would make it up to me. After a brief discussion he agrees to buy my Tudor watch for $2000 (it was worth 3800 at the time). I drive 30 mins home to get him the box and papers and 30 mins back to finish our deal. After I return Out of nowhere, He says he can't buy my Tudor watch. I asked him why and he simply said, it's not what we're looking for right now. I was appalled at the lack of integrity and cavalier attitude of not honoring his word. He then said "well it's not worth the risk, it won't sell well." I told him I couldn't believe he was going back on his word to which he said "sorry, you want gas money?" This is simply not good business. I spoke to Mimi later and she told me how sorry she was but that she has to support her son even when he's wrong. Even she was shocked he went back on his word. To this day I'm stuck with that ring with the bad diamond. Hopefully everyone else has better...
