Kanyadaan Boutique — Attraction in Fremont

I wish I had known about Kanyadaan earlier! Kanyadaan has dressed nearly my entire bridal party and almost all the groomsmen. From our first visit at the end of February, up to the week before our wedding (which is this weekend!), Neera and Neeraj have taken such wonderful care of us! I and my bridesmaids, as well as most of the groomsmen, are not Indian and were not at all familiar with Indian formal wear. Neera helped each of my bridesmaids find beautiful lehenga with coordinating choli and dupatta with such an expert eye for color, design, and what would be most flattering on each of them. Neeraj helped us custom order sherwani for the best men and groomsmen who were coming from out of state and couldn't be present for fittings and measurements. He spent a great deal of time on the phone and on video chats with our far-away-friends helping them take the correct measurements. The clothes themselves are absolutely stunning, Neera's eye for design is clear the moment you walk in. On multiple different excursions, we brought in groups of family and party members to find perfect outfits for the wedding and associated festivities, and each time were met with kindness and patience and the best customer service I've received in a long time. They care about their customers, they want you to look your best, and they are so helpful. We ordered my dress from a designer my mother-in-law chose in Southern California and the designer ended up completely changing the dress so it looks nothing like what we ordered (it also came in a couple of weeks late). The skirt came in several sizes too large in the waist and several inches too long and Neera was kind enough to fix it for me (on a very short time frame) so that it fits perfectly for the wedding. Had I known about Kanyadaan earlier in our planning journey, we would have gone to them for everything. From quality of fabric to design to fit and alterations, every service and garment has been perfect (or nearly so, requiring only minor alterations). I cannot recommend enough Neera and Neeraj and their expertise and experience. They helped make the process stress and worry-free for us and every visit to the store was a joy...

i'm in a bridal party and some of us + the bride and groom all made a trip out from marin/oakland to fremont to find outfits for the wedding and mehndi (this was after many other trips already, where the groom's mother in particular had found these other shops' saris and lehengas not sufficiently to her liking).

we were at another shop, again unsatisfied with the service and selection/quality, when we google-stumbled upon kanyadaan. the groom asked if drop-ins during appointment hours were okay, and the owners said no problem, so we headed over, almost thinking we probably weren't going to stay long and likely were going to have to roll the dice on placing some custom orders online.

well, we ended up staying for something like 5 hours, maybe longer, trying on different (and very beautiful/intricate!) lehengas and kurtas. the owners were helpful the entire time, and very gracious about us randomly stopping in and monopolizing their attention and also much of the space in the store.

there is a tailor onsite who can do basic adjustments, and when the stitching was a bit off on one of the jackets they were all very accommodating about correcting it. for the outfits that needed to be sent out for alteration, they kept us updated about timing, possible delays, and when everything had arrived and was ready.

we've all found our outfits for the wedding (the groom's mother approved them all -- tough bar) and the groomsmen are going this weekend to finalize theirs. overall -- i highly dislike clothes shopping of any kind, but really enjoyed trying out these amazing lehengas, chatting with the owners and experiencing...
