MEGA MART — Attraction in Fremont

This is my second time(4 pm, 2/15/2023) to this supermarket, and I won't be back never and ever. I’d rather go to Hmart if I will go to a Korean supermarket. There are more options for food and better basic service.

The price in here is fine and the selection of food is limited, but I also purchased over $50 in here every time.

The cashier, named Heather, was so desultory to her job. The cashier is not a job to be paid by tips, but the basic manner is required.

I asked her before she scanned the products,” Can I have a bag?” I got no response from her.

She replied to me until I finished the payment,” do you want to put this into the bag?” I said yes.

She showed me her poker face all the time, and it was fine. The point that made me angry was she horizontally settle my sliced cake( like a person laying on her right side), then the cake messed up in the box, but she did not care and did not exchange it for a new cake.

Then, she vertically settled four of my marinated veggie into the bag(all open sides of the boxes faced the ground), but she did not care.

I finally politely asked her if I could get a new sliced cake instead because she messed up it. She even did not look at me. She shook her left hand and said “yes(sth like that)”.

I was tired to talk to her because I knew she was unhappy with her job. She was enjoying her phone.

Heather, if you are unhappy with your wage, you can talk to your manager. However, please be serious about...

I have never and I meant never written a bad review in my life. But I am just furious on how they handled the situation. I purchased a bag of fruit and it turns out to be rotten. Sadly, I was in a rush that day so I was not able to grab a receipt. But I have the bank transaction and everything to back it up. Was going to just take the L and move on but I was around so I might as well ask. The staff was nice and was trying to help but I guess nothing can be done from their end without the receipt. So the owner comes around and try to get it resolved. At the end he was able to grab a random bag of the same item and use it as a reference to refund me $27. But it was never about the money… I came abt it nicely and wanted nothing other than an apology and some kind of a refund. In the end, he just wanted to get it done with. No apologies at all not a single one even when I am clearly getting upset. Unbelievable attitude towards such a situation. These fruits are rotten and moldy and could seriously get someone sick or worse. What a poor poor...

I get confused with the name "Mega Mart," thinking we're talking about the art installation in Vegas (O)mega. While it doesn't scream Asian market, it does provide a needed spot for the large Asian community in the area.

I was pleasantly surprised by their hot deli section. Sure, it doesn't have as much as the likes of H-Mart, but there were some gems I found that were vegan friendly for me. I liked having an affordable mushroom japchae (that was even discounted early in the morning) and some banchan that were fully plant based. It's not much, but I'll take what I can get.

The entire store felt sparse but was clean and tidy. Comparing it to larger supermarkets, you won't find as much of a selection, but it has all the basics. I'll probably return again with my Mom in the future whenever she wants to find a wider variety of Asian goods that's not available at our local Chinese market.

Note: there is no public restroom or dining area inside, but you can enjoy the baked goods and hot...
