I like to go to his little art gallery every few months to see various types of art done by artists in The Bay Area. Though I've seen different kinds of art, I usually go when they have textile displays, because someone I know weaves and her works are often on display. I tend to be especially fond of the quilted wall hangings and sculptures. I do hope my pictures of their works are allowed, because what better way to show what's on display, giving more traffic to the gallery and a better opportunity for the artist to sell one or more works? Yep, most of the items displayed there are for sale, which can be pretty exciting if you can afford a work of art done by a local artist!
As with anyone, different people have different concepts of what is beautiful, or interesting, but there are a wide range of items that will surely appeal to various aesthetics.
The gallery does not charge a fee, but they do accept donations. It's very small, consisting of 3 small rooms, but it's a great size for meandering at a leisurely pace and spending an hour or two alone, with a friend, or just to kill time.
It's located next door to where Mission Coffee used to be. Parking is easy. The gallery is never busy and you may have it all to yourself whenever you choose to go. It is only open Thursday-Sundays.
If you want a chance to display some of your own art, the gallery does not make the decisions around that. You must go through the guild, which has procedures for entries that must be met. I'll try to post more info...
