Only pet store you should be shopping at if you live in Fruita. Great selection, great products and friendly staff.
Update: Weâve loved Chow Down Pet Supply for the last 15 years when we had our cats â itâs always been one of my favorite local pet stores. Itâs been exciting to finally get our two rescue pit bulls comfortable enough to visit, and we were so happy last week to use the amazing bathing system.
Today started off great. We were greeted by a very friendly employee, and our dogs walked in without too much hesitation. I think itâs wonderful that they have store cats â I completely support that and am more than happy to abide by any store policies regarding animals. I actually worked at a pet shop years ago, so I fully understand the importance of keeping everyone safe and comfortable.
Thatâs why, when I saw a cat walking up to my two dogs (who Iâm not sure have ever been around cats), I gently scooped her up and turned her the other way. Unfortunately, I was then aggressively confronted by another employee â someone with blue hair and several facial piercings â who made me feel completely embarrassed and unwelcome for bringing my dogs into a pet store. The interaction was unnecessarily rude and left me feeling awful about what should have been a positive, local shopping experience.
I had been planning to switch to Chow Down for my dogsâ food, but after today, Iâll continue placing my online orders through Chewy. Itâs a shame because I truly prefer supporting local businesses, and weâve had so many great experiences there over the years. I hope this was just an off day for that employee because it was really...
Read moreI am beyond disappointed and frustrated with the grooming my Irish Terrier received from Tiffany at Chow Down Dog Supplies. We had a clear, detailed conversation before the appointment where I specifically told her not to shave his back. We even discussed hand-stripping, which is the correct method for maintaining an Irish Terrierâs coat. Tiffany told me she thought stripping was âcruelâ â and instead, without my consent, she shaved his back anyway.
This wasnât a misunderstanding. She knew exactly what she was doing and deliberately ignored my instructions because she personally disagreed with them. That is completely unacceptable, unprofessional, and shows a shocking disregard for both breed standards and a clientâs wishes.
Itâs been a month, and his coat has not grown back properly. The wiry, stiff texture is gone.
If you value your dogâs breed integrity, your grooming preferences, or basic professional respect, do not trust Tiffany with your dog. I will never...
Read moreThey've got lots of cool, not generic, pet food there. They mainly specialize in just cat and dog stuff though. So if you're in need of any other pet items, best go somewhere else.
My only real complaint, is that they are overly friendly. It starts as soon as you enter the door. You get a nice greeting, then what seems like non-stop customer service. Asking you if you need help with anything, things like that. Normally that doesn't bother me. But that happens after the greeting. Aka, I've had no chance to look around myself before needing help. It doesn't help that I'm not a people person anyway, hence me being bothered. But I cann appreciate their effort, thus the 5...
