I love taking my kids to Snooks Bottom on a hot, summer afternoon. We bring tubes, kayaks and paddleboards as well as sand toys.
It is a LONG walk from parking down to the water, so bring a wagon or something to help pull all the stuff.
There is beach area, though it's pretty rocky and muddy with reeds in some places too. I've never had a hard time finding a spot to set up though.
Sometimes people play loud music that can be heard around the entire lake and that has been bothersome in the past.

Fishing, hiking, disc golf, swimming, paddle boarding, bird watchingđ Also seems to be the place everyone likes to bring their dogs so if you love pups you'll meet plenty on a day at Snooks. It's quite a walk down to the water but they do have a paved pathway. Note: If swimming I would recommend water shoes.
