â â â â â Homemade Heaven â Iâd Fight a Grizzly for Another Turtle Marshmallow
Listen⊠I walked into Galenaâs Kandy Kitchen thinking Iâd just browse. You know, maybe grab a little taffy or a caramel. Casual. Innocent. What I didnât expect? To walk out with a bag of homemade marshmallow magic that changed the trajectory of my entire snack life. Iâm talking about the TURTLE MARSHMALLOW. Yes, it gets all capsâbecause it earned it.
Letâs start with the obvious: this isnât your average store-bought, chalky little puff. This is a homemade marshmallow that feels like it was hand-crafted by a sugar wizard with a caramel cauldron. Itâs soft, pillowy, gooey in the best way, and then WHAMâcoated in rich chocolate, hugged by caramel, and studded with just enough nuts to make you question if youâve ever truly lived before now.
Itâs the perfect balance: not overly sweet, not too chewy, just ridiculously satisfying. Every bite tastes like someone in the back of that candy shop made it with love, pride, and a little bit of mischief. And honestly? Thatâs the kind of energy I want in all my snacks from now on.
The shop itself is nostalgic candy heavenâjars lined up like temptation on parade, the smell of fudge in the air, and a vibe that makes you feel like a kid again... but with adult money and zero self-control. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and it was clear theyâre passionate about what they do. Itâs the kind of place you go once and immediately start planning your return trip.
I shouldâve bought three more. I regret nothing... except not hoarding a dozen of these before I left town. If youâre anywhere near Galena, do yourself a favor: run, donât walk, and grab yourself a Turtle Marshmallow (or six). Your tastebuds will throw a party, and honestly?...

There are chocolate-covered marshmallows⊠and then there are Galenaâs Kandy Kitchen homemade chocolate-covered marshmallows. And let me tell you right nowâthey are not the same.
These little beauties are next level. The marshmallow itself is fluffy, soft, and melts in your mouth like it was made in a cloud factory. Itâs got that unmistakable homemade magicânone of that dry, overprocessed texture you get from store-bought sweets. You bite into it and you know someone made it with care (and probably a little love spell, because itâs addicting).
And the chocolate? Oof. Thick, rich, and perfectly smooth, with just the right amount of snap when you bite in. Not too sweet, not too bitterâjust silky, velvety chocolate that wraps around the marshmallow like it knows exactly what it's doing.
I couldâve easily eaten half a dozen in one sitting (not saying I did⊠but not saying I didnât either). Theyâre comforting. Theyâre nostalgic. Theyâre dangerously good. This isnât just a treatâitâs a full sensory event.
If youâre in Galena and you donât stop here and grab a bag of these marshmallow masterpieces, Iâm just gonna assume you hate joy.
Do yourself a favor. Buy extra. Because one is never,...

Ice cream quality, depending on the flavor (I had Chocolate) is onpar with or below your typical variety found at a super market. My wifeâs Coconut flavor was quite good. There is no prices found anywhere in the building. Iâll save you finding out, it costs 7.50 for one milkshake before tax. It is a very predatory pricing scheme. Customer service of the young lasses behind the counter was the definition of phoning it in. Not like I would want to scoop ice cream either, but I also didnât sign up for it as a job.
I recommend taking the four minute drive up the slope to McDonalds for a better shake at a fourth the price and better customer service to boot. At least at McDonalds you expect that...
