Location on Main Street is great, but that's the only thing this Inn has going for it. The room was spacious, but so many other things wrong didn't make up for that! • No personal contact – Like so many other businesses, this business has become Covid lazy! I’m all for using electronic devices to make life easier, but in the hospitality business, personal contact is necessary. We never saw or heard from anyone during our 3 night stay. • Towels – OMG…I couldn’t believe how awful the towels were! They were like using sand paper! Use some fabric softener or get new towels! • Bed Sheets – I’ve never seen thinner sheets! I was afraid I was going to rip them they were so thin. Unacceptable in a lodging establishment. • Cleanliness – The room was passable, but could use a deep cleaning. Gross light switches, dusty lamp shades, window sill had dead bugs, baseboards, dirty mirrors, dusty picture frames … these are all examples of things that need attention. • Room Temperature – This was the worse! Our room was HOT and no way to control the temperature. I called the phone number posted, but it wasn’t answered. Thankfully there was a fan in the room, and we ran it non-stop. I tried to open the window, but it had caulking on it so it couldn’t be opened. This really concerned me as this would be a fire exit and you couldn’t use it! The 3 nights we stayed were miserable due to the hot room. I couldn’t wait to check out. We would have left earlier, but the room was already paid for. I wouldn't...
Read more4-24-23. Location is great. Room needs deep cleaning of woodwork throughout and under bed. Dust on baseboards haven’t been touched for quite sometime. Towels and washcloths are like sandpaper and sheets paper thin. Windows and sills very dirty. Mirrors hung throughout room are for tall people. Faucet in bathroom sink wrong size since water goes directly into the overflow hole. Toilet paper very cheap and thin. No heat or AC control in room. Opened windows and turned ceiling fan on entire time. Laundry room was next door and washer was so loud I thought it was going to come through wall. Watching tv in the evening listening to washer was annoying. Walking back and forth on 3rd floor is very loud for people below and distracting when trying to relax. A few pluses to mention. Size of room was nice, very qauint decor throughout, entrance door is locked for security and guests have code to get in. Room offer was to include bakery cinnamon roll which we didn't receive since the bakery used is closed on Mon & Tues. When I emailed the Inn about it they did go to the local Piggly Wiggly store and purchased cinnamon rolls which was left outside our door. $310 for a 2 night stay is a little steep since everything is so old but there isn't anything less expensive for the location and Galena is a...
Read moreCan't get much better than this little gem in Galena! My daughter and I leave the boys at home once a year to enjoy a girls Galena Getaway for her birthday. It's a very special annual mother/daughter tradition and this year we stayed at Main Street Inn for her 10th birthday (the big double-digit birthday!). The location is fantastic, right in the middle of town by all the shops and restaurants. The rooms are charming, clean, and spacious. The beds were super comfortable, and it was easy to adjust the temperature in the room as needed. The common areas are great, with seating areas, a mini-fridge, games to borrow, a toaster oven and microwave. Not only that, the owner and innkeeper set out a special surprise for my daughter, a birthday cake, gift box, sparkling white grape juice with wine glasses, and a tiara! She was so delighted when we arrived and walked into the room to find it laid out for her. The owner was super responsive by text, and we even had our own parking spot right in back. We will definitely be back! Thanks for...
