Fair warning this is a long more detailed review. To summarize if you dont want to read. I would suggest you save yourself the trouble of paying for the attractions which are just mediocre and don't stay late for the light show as it was equally mediocre. However if you like just hiking, or want to go to a picnic area do it as that at least is nice.

The tickets are expensive while the park seems to be a shadow of what it used to be. The last time we came here was more than 10 years ago and compared to that it's nowhere near what it was. Yes there are new attractions which can be fun for kids but some of the old attractions which could be enjoyed by the whole family are gone or seemed to have been downsized.

Walking through the park just wasn't that good. Everything looks dead like a ghost town compared to the past. The park has honestly lost a lot of it's shine and what made it special.

Now as mentioned some new attractions are fun like the mini golf course which can be enjoyed by the whole family. The dinosaur attraction seems more interesting for kids so it wasn't really something we enjoyed much. Pics with the dinosaurs was okay but nothing you can't do somewhere else.  Of course the park still has the Skyrim which remains a popular way to get to the top of Stone Mountain. The train ride is still a chill way to look around the park, though the show appears to have changed and is in theme with the whole dinosaur thing they got going on.

The old movie they used to play which I believe went with the theme of the park and was a nice story which could be enjoyed by the whole family has been replaced with a generic child's movie. Which isn't really worth seeing unless you have little ones but even then some young children are clearly frightened by this movie and parents end up having to walk out. Honestly feels more like they are leaning heavily into jurassic park with all the dinosaur stuff.

If you enjoy walking they do have the trails. One leads all the way up the mountain if you don't want to ride the Skyrim. You can also walk to the historic area and if you get there before 4pm you can do the tours and look inside the house.

We did find that the little park plushies with the stone mountain jackets were cute and a nice touch when it came to souvenirs. The hats, shirts, and cups are about the same quality. You can still get the coins with the park images which I guess is nice. The rest of the things which you can buy just seem like cheap toys made to attract kids attention but aren't that great. Honestly you could get better and cheaper toys at Walmart.

The light show which is the last thing you see around 9:30 was underwhelming. Honestly great on them for talking about people coming together and diversity and all that. Glad they paid homepage to our service members. However if I wanted to listen to a Mashup of songs through the ages I could have done that at home on YouTube. The drones are nice and fireworks are great but nothing all that awesome considering other places have fireworks or drones. No real wow factor to that and was honestly bored. Also feel like they purposedly chose to in a way erase the history of this place. I know its not a great history but erasing things only means we are bound to repeat them. The show in the past was much better and captivating. This was just a fancy show with no substance at all. Not worth staying...

The park itself is beautiful and worth a visit. However, I was incredibly disappointed with the Fourth of July experience, as it was easily oversold. We had the option of purchasing an all day ticket (for the attractions plus light show/fireworks,) or spending $5 to just go to the fireworks. However, all their emails and website info said to get there before 5pm for parking as it would fill up and close. We did not want to risk attending at night and not having somewhere to park. Being unfamiliar with the area, we were not sure where we would park if we could not get in. Getting off the highway, and arriving at 2 PM, the traffic took us about 30 minutes from from the highway to the parking lot. However, that was expected. Once parked, we had to wait in line for 40 more minutes just to get our wristband. The non ticket holders line went faster and was about half the wait. Those who purchased tickets online had to wait to enter a building with only four employees checking tickets, whereas those buying the day of went to the ticket windows and had many more employees offering assistance. Food lines and attraction lines were unacceptably long. Buying lunch at the cafe took about 25 minutes and the food was already made. On top of that, we were only able to visit one attraction. Most had hour lines and reservation windows were required. The lawn was already filled by 4, and to avoid not getting a spot (we were crammed in all the way in the back,) we had to sit and wait for the show, preventing us from exploring the park. When it came time to take down any tents that were put up, you all made FOUR announcements to do so. Around 830, you all made an announcement that the show was postponed due to a storm that was coming, and you encouraged everyone to shelter. But only ONE announcement was made. This caused mass confusion. After about twenty minutes, everyone started leaving, saying the show was cancelled. About 70% of the attendees started leaving the park. Guests were stating the show was cancelled and the word spread like wildfire. The line to leave was another 25 minutes to get back to the parking areas. While leaving, one employee said it was not cancelled, two said they were not sure, and another two said it was cancelled. No one knew what was going on. Upon returning to our car, the fireworks then went off and we were only able to see some due to the trees. You guys were able to make four announcements over the speakers about tents being removed, but didn’t make any about the fireworks?? You saw that well over half of the guests had left and were leaving, but you chose not to address them and let everyone know to stay and that it was continuing. It was a waste of $35 frankly, as the entire day was spent waiting in lines and missing the fireworks for a clearly oversold show. I wish I had just spent $5 for the fireworks. That would have been a lot easier to lose out on, than the $141 the three of us spent on admission for an entire day (plus tax.) I will do myself a favor next year and watch the...
