A friend of mine and I went the Hobby Lobby on Germantown on NY Eve. We checked the website before we left and the store closings or for 8 p.m. As we entered the front doors there was no sign posted saying they would be closing early for the holidays, most other stores for closing at 6 pm. However we entered at 5:10 p.m. and the store manager and staff were steadily announcing overhead that they would be closing in 20 minutes which would have made it 5:30 pm. We thought however that's a little odd but continue to try to shop for some items that we needed to organize and update our Hardware in our homes. We had barely been in there and every 5 minutes they kept announcing that their store would be closing in 15 minutes, then 10 minutes then 5 minutes and at one minute they ask for a security check and I continued hearing the staff to go up and down the house verbally asking the customers to make their way to the checkout. As I checked out with my one, knob for a dresser pull the lady asked me if I found everything that I needed and I told her that I guess I had been that I was only allowed to shop for 20 minutes and felt very rushed to get out of the store. She apologized. I made my purchase and as I was leaving they had to unlock the door to allow me to exit. Another customer had just parked and was trying to come into the store and the lady told her that the store was closed she could come back tomorrow. The lady has said the same thing that I had thought that the website said they would be open to 8 and that there was nothing posted on their front door. So I turned to the lady and I said I agree we made a drive from Downtown Memphis all the way out to Germantown when there were other stores available to us to make our purchases and we might have had more time to shop at a different store had we had known. The clerk then looked at me gave my friend and I a snobbish grin and said, feel free to come back at 9 tomorrow morning we will be open then. I told her but I spent a ton of money at Hobby Lobby and that I did enjoy the store. However, I would make sure that I went to a different Hobby Lobby because at those stores they at least made us feel welcomed as customers. We left and went to Michaels they were open until 6, TJ Maxx is open until 6 and Tuesday morning was open until 6. I'm just curious if this was a management decision at the last minute because they had a party to be to at 5:30 or 6 and therefore they needed their store to close down prior to what corporate had given them. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I'm not judgmental I'm just truly a customer and I would love to shop where I felt wanted and my money was going a good use to pay their employees...
Read moreI visited the Hobby Lobby today in Germantown, TN. When I entered, there was a lady standing near the door. I asked if she worked there, and she responded with a condescending attitude, saying, "I'm standing here right." I decided to let it go and asked her where I could find small bags for gift cards. She told me they were in the back of the store and mentioned that there was a party section in the middle.
I then asked if the aisles were numbered, to which she replied, "No." I proceeded to the back of the store in search of the item. However, the back had only home goods, so I looked in the middle of the store, but still had no luck. Hobby Lobby is quite large, with many items placed randomly throughout.
Frustrated, I finally headed back to the front and asked to speak with the manager. The same lady I encountered at the front claimed to be the assistant manager. I told her that she should not be in management as she is a poor representation of the company and lacks customer service skills. I walked out, and I will not be returning. I plan to share this negative experience with everyone I know who...
Read moreFirst I will tell you that the sewing area at Hobby Lobby have a consistent wonderful level of service. The gals sew and will be happy to talk about design. Great place to shop. Now I will say that I've had a sales lady ignore my request for help. She was using her phone and did not acknowledge me at all. I can respect someone's need to check on family, and I appreciate that these gals are working at Minimum wage. I've been there. Manners go along way, regardless of our pay scale. In recent trips should I have a question on an adhesive product I would not approach this person. I shop at both Hobby Lobby and it's competitor. My purchases in both locations are for products that both are best at providing this crafts person. My behaviour is quite normal for a crafter. We shop for a product we have had success with, and we spread our revenue between shops available . Have fun and make...
