Stopped here during the week but it was closed. It is just on the edge of Gettysburg near the battlefield. I did get some photos of the interior of the building through the windows. I really wish it was open as it looked really nice inside with the Christmas decorations. This was a motel location at one time but they were able to restore it back. You get a great understanding of what it was and the significance of the headquarters. They have plenty of plaques around to read. They even recreated the dog house for Austin. He was the dog who lived at the Mary Thompson House during the Battle of Gettysburg The American Battlefield Trust added a section for all those that supported this project. It is a long list, but happy these people decided to support the project.

An obvious must see site on your Gettysburg visit. The house is beautiful and when you step inside, you can just feel the history. Very cool to think about Robert E Lee planning his war strategy here. And how he must’ve spent his time during this extremely stressful time. I am not a huge war buff, but listening to Gettysburg podcasts on our long trip here helped understand where everything happened and how it went down. I was very excited to be in a place where Rob E Lee walked.

In Gettysburg for the 160th Anniversary at Daniel Lady Farms as a reenactor and opted to see the national park soon after. Exceptional restoration of what was truly had become a commercial enterprise. It's growing slowly, and looking forward to seeing furniture added to this historic landmark. Also hopeful that they plan some events where reenactment encampments are stood up to bring up the living history experience for the visiting public!
