If I could give this place zero stars I would. I don't know if this place had an "off" night or what. I was in a party of 6 & it was our first time coming to the restaurant since it became Heartland. We were excited to try it, but our minds changed awfully quick once at our table. We were greated almost immediately, so kudos to the young kid up front. He then sat us within 2 minutes. He was quick & polite. We sat at our table & talked while we browsed the menu. About 5 minutes goes by and we realized no one has been to our table to get our drink order. No big deal so we went back to our menus. So now its been another 10 minutes and still no one. We started looking around because the only people in that restaurant were 4 or 5 booths up front. They may have had 2 or 3 people per table. So to someone like me who is a cook that restaurant was by no means "packed" or "busy". So together we waited for 15 minutes for someone to come over or even acknowledge us. We were sat in the back so at first we weren't sure they seen us, but they absolutely did. The young man who was waiting tables apologized then took our drink order. When he walked away a nice young lady came over and she then apologized about the wait. She said they only had 2 wait staff on and it had been busy right...
Read moreI donât leave many reviews so when I do itâs because I am extremely pleased or extremely disappointed. In this case I am more than extremely pleased. While visiting Gettysburg for a short get away, my husband and I stopped into this little gem of a diner for breakfast. From the outside the diner is pretty non descript but once you walk inside you know itâs something special. From the pleasant staff to the fresh flowers on all the tables to the exceptional service we were impressed. Now letâs talked about the food. I ordered the blueberry pancakes. My husband got his favorite cream chipped beef. Both were so good. The pancakes were loaded with so many blueberries they didnât even need syrup. We decided to go back that evening for dinner. After walking all day through the Battlefield and visiting the Eisenhower homestead , we had worked up quite the appetite. I really wanted to try the crab cakes but was hesitant, because diner crab cakes? Who would expect them to be that good. WellâŚIâm not even making it up when I tell you that they were delicious. Real crab meat and seasoned perfectly. The best part? The price. $19.99 and they came with two sides and a soup or salad. This place is definitely...
Read moreIf Norman Rockwell ever painted breakfast, it would have looked a lot like the Heartland Diner in Gettysburg. Itâs the kind of place where the coffeeâs always warm, the baconâs always crisp, and the smiles feel like theyâve been perfected over generations. Every table wears a little crown of fresh flowers, a cheerful flourish that says, âyes, even your pancakes deserve romance.âOur waitress, Theasa, was an absolute gemâattentive, gracious, kind, and with the sage wisdom of someone who knows how to turn hash browns into happiness. She suggested a cooking style weâd never tried before, and it turned out to be exactly the sort of comforting twist that made us feel like we were back in our childhood hometown, Sunday morning sunlight streaming through the kitchen window. In short, Heartland Diner serves up more than just foodâit dishes out nostalgia on a plate, with a side of warmth and genuine hospitality. Would we go back? In a heartbeatâpreferably one accompanied by the faint smell of butter and...
