Throughout my groupโs experience, the staff was not very friendly and seemed a bit unprofessional. Upon arrival, we were greeted and signed waivers. Iโm not sure if itโs because Iโm naturally a friendly person, but I didnโt get the same energy from the person who greeted us. It felt more like they just wanted to get it over with rather than genuinely welcoming us.
We then began searching for a safe place to launch, which took about an hour and 30 minutes. I understand that safety comes first, but I still wish the crew had been more communicative and friendlyโit would have made the whole process much more enjoyable.
Once we found a location, we watched them set up for about 30-45 minutes and started taking videos. At one point, we overheard one crew member shouting at another, telling him to be more careful with the equipment. Unfortunately, one of the employees ended up breaking something on the balloon, making it unsafe to fly. This ultimately led to our flight being canceled.
We werenโt upset about the cancellationโaccidents happen, and we were actually relieved that the issue was caught before we were in the air. However, the overall experience would have been much better if the crew had been more pleasant. In the service industry, friendliness goes a long way. We tried to use a gift certificate (which I purchased for my husband for Christmas), and our flight was cancelled due to weather (understandable) after business hours on the night before our flight. We rescheduled, and did not receive email information on when to arrive for our flight, etc. We did not receive a confirmation email, but assumed the company would call us/email the evening prior to our flight to confirm after checking the weather report. We missed our flight (although we were on our way there prior to sunrise) since we did not have specific instructions on arrival time. We are now being asked to pay more money to reschedule and being made to feel like liars for not receiving an email prior to our flight. We are small business owners and do not treat our customers this way! We take the approach that accidents/errors happen on the part of the business and clients. Captain Matt and his crew were excellent as our float was pretty much the full hour and he nailed the landing. The ride almost didnโt happen cuz we were only in Phoenix for two days visiting from Canada and the weather on the first day (morning and evening) was too windy. Thankfully Heather from the office was able to fit us into a float that happened the following morning. Other than you have to do this at least once, my only advice to out of town visitors is to NOT book a non-refundable discounted fare like we did as floats are often canceled due to weather and they are stringent on not refunding such fares for any reason.
