Stopped in for the first time about 30 min before closing on a Sunday and was pleasantly greeted by Alandra. I have a severe intolerance to both gluten and dairy so we started by inquiring if it would even be possible for me to consider staying to eat and Alandra was so helpful and went through the menu letting me know what would be safe or not and which items could be altered and she didn't seem the least bit bothered to answer questions and help me find things.
For anyone else with similar restrictions most of the grilled fish options are gluten free, except the teriyaki, and they can switch any of the options with butter to blackened or plain as well. The tacos are available on corn tortillas and can be df without cheese and white sauce and the cocktails are gf/df as well. The salads are also gf, and df if you remove the cheese and choose a df dressing- I chose italian. Obviously the fried items and sandwiches are not gf, I'm not sure about the steamers because they have butter so I had to avoid them. Their rice is made with butter but they were able to put it on the side so my husband could still enjoy it.
We shared the bay shrimp cocktail, blackened mahi and snapper tacos, and the blackened swordfish platter. We greatly enjoyed everything with the swordfish and snapper being our favorites, the mahi was just a touch dry. My husband had white sauce on the side to add to the tacos and he said it definitely improved them, they were also a touch dry without it but I know that's my restriction not theirs! A dairy free option like an aioli would be nice to have but I understand they may not have enough demand for it. I will say that the salad feels a little sad next to their beautiful fish, it just doesn't seem like it's the same level of quality, it was just a basic diner salad and was browning a bit- although we did enjoy the surprise addition of capers that weren't listed in the description! I don't think I would enjoy one of their salad meals though as it would feel like a poor combination, I can't imagine dousing such nice fish with basic salad dressing and eating it with iceberg lettuce! We both found the shrimp cocktail to be very flavorful and larger than we were expecting! We would definitely consider returning in the future knowing there are options that I can have so that my husband can try the steamers and fried things that I cannot! Also the timing of our arrival and questions and ordering meant that we finished our meal after the 9pm close time and not a single employee made us feel rushed or like we were an inconvenience but thanked us for coming in which was so nice, especially as it's common to be met with annoyance when you mention...
Read moreMy initial experience was subpar due to the lack of a host or clear instructions on seating oneself when all tables were occupied. Upon inquiring about a waiting list, I was informed that something would become available soon or that I could ask other patrons to accommodate me at their table. However, I preferred not to sit with strangers. When a table became available, I proceeded to sit down, only to be told by another employee that there was a line for that table. At this point, I expressed my frustration and considered leaving. The manager approached me and offered to seat me with his friend at a table, which I declined, preferring to sit alone. The tables, designed for four people, would have been a tight fit with limited privacy. I questioned the suitability of this establishment for date nights, given the likelihood of being seated with strangers. The overall experience reminded me of a fast-food establishment, with overpriced items and frozen seafood. A more organized and traditional dining experience can be found across the parking lot at Red Lobster. I took the opportunity to share my concerns with the manager, mentioning my 33 years of experience in restaurant management. I emphasized the importance of a host in creating a positive first and last impression. The manager acknowledged my points, citing his own experience in restaurant management. Undeterred, I decided to give the establishment another chance and returned an hour later. This time, I was able to secure a table and was greeted by a server who informed me about the available Coca-Cola products. However, I was not told that the root beer was bottled and priced at $4.95, compared to the $3.00 price point for other beverages. After waiting for 20 minutes without receiving service, despite other patrons being seated and served, I chose to leave. As I departed, I informed the manager that I had given them a second chance, but unfortunately, no one had taken my order. The manager remained silent as I exited the establishment. Hopefully, this feedback will prompt...
Read moreSome restaurants you walk away immediately thinking I'm definitely returning due to the food or atmosphere but others you just don't. Unfortunately, it's the latter for this one. Family and I came here for fathers day as I saw it was new and wanted to try it out. Don't get me wrong, it's okay just not much that was memorable.
Started off with sodas all around and apparently they ran out of ice and so we all got somewhat chilled soda with no ice.
Food: I got the $34 lobster roll with choice of fries and onion rings. Got the onion rings. For such a hefty price, the sandwich just didn't justify it. It's a rather small sandwich and wasn't fully loaded with lobster. A lot of the bits of lobster were overcooked so it was a bit rubbery. Flavors of it was just kinda bland. Just expect more for an expensive sandwich. The onion rings were okay. We spent about $120 total for 4 meals and soda. Meal 1- Lobster roll/onion rings 2. Fried shrimp/fries. 3. Fried fish sticks(2sticks) and fries. 4. One fish taco. All fried food except the lobster roll for $120 tip included. Little much I think.
Atmosphere: Its a nice place but again, nothing to write home about. Lighting was bright, no private booths or anything so eating Pretty close to everyone else. Neutral light colors on the walls. Pretty basic with a couple pics on the walls and TV's. The high prices of the food doesn't match the basic atmosphere and seating arrangements you get so that doesn't help with keeping anything memorable about it.
Service: Service was pretty good and attententive so kudos to the service.
All in all, nice place but hopefully as they get more established, prices can come down and match the look and feel of the establishment as the two...
