I had a challenging experience trying to find a replacement venue for my son's birthday party after our original booking was canceled with only three days notice by United Escapes of America. We found Escapology and found they had availability for our party date on their website, I did not book right away since I had to check with everyone since we were switching everyone around. After getting my son and our guests excited and confirming plans, we went to book the next day only to find that the dates were grayed out all of a sudden and the system only allowed bookings a week out. We were confused about what could have changed in 24 hours since they had several dates and times available that day when we checked the day prior. When we called, the staff were unhelpful and insisted on a two-week notice, despite the online system indicating otherwise and allowing booking for a week out not two weeks. There seems to be confusion and inconsistency with the website and staff.
Fortunately, International Room Escapes in Gilbert came to our rescue. They managed to accommodate us on extremely short notice and provided an amazing experience with their Gravitational Effect escape room. Not only did they deliver an engaging and fun adventure, but they also offered a beautifully decorated party room that exceeded our expectations. Their professionalism and flexibility were a breath of fresh air, especially after our frustrating experiences elsewhere. I do not see why you need two weeks to order pizza and drinks for a party or even let people bring in their own like International Room Escapes did. To be clear the escape room and party room were available they just refused to provide a party on short notice.
If you're in need of a reliable and accommodating escape room experience, I highly recommend International Room Escapes. They truly saved the day and turned our party into a memorable success.
Escapology had every opportunity to be the one receiving the saved the day high praise but turned us away instead. Disappointing.
Updated review per facility response; yes it was my husband that called. He was offered the escape room without the party package. I do not think anyone was disrespectful it was just disappointing that no accommodations could be made, based on the time you took to explain the care and detail that goes into the party planning, I'll add a star to my review as it makes more sense, however, we would have been happy with a conference room or bringing in our own food and/or cupcakes so I maintain that it would be nice if you had more options and were able to accomodate the way your competition did. They are proof it's possible. I would consider giving Escapology another chance in the future but based on your response, we would expect one heck of an integrated party and high end cupcakes! Read moreDid two Escape Rooms this past week during the holidays as something fun and I wish we had better luck as we were so excited. The first room we didn’t get to watch the videos that were supposed to play in the beginning and so we were confused when the clock started going without instructions or synopsis of the story/room. The first video played for maybe 5 seconds and then quit then the clock was already counting down. We were told we could ask for a clue whenever we want, and the website says you would have unlimited clues but the screen showed we only had 3 and when we asked for help after the 3 were gone, we didn’t get any. So curious if it is truly unlimited or if there is a limit? We were given a discount code to come back for the inconvenience of the videos not playing. So we thought we would have better luck and booked a second room. The second room we had to use a black light but it was so dim and then the batteries died so we couldn’t look/see what we were told to look for so we just had to make guesses without it going forward. There were a couple of times we asked for a hint or nudge and didn’t get any and we did agree to do the nudges. We asked verbally and did the hand raising that they recommended and still nothing. At the beginning we were told we need to type in a 4 digit code to escape and we tried multiple combinations at the end and we ran out of time and then once someone came to get us she told us it was a 6 digit code not 4 digit. She apologized that the other person gave the wrong information in the beginning and we mentioned the black light and she said it goes out pretty fast. We felt defeated and disappointed considering we would’ve made it out if we were told the right number of digits for the code and if the black light actually worked. A suggestion would be to have a label printed off above the keypad stating how many numbers you need so then you aren’t relying on word of mouth for very important information since different rooms have different number of digit requirements. I would hope that when the room is being reset, the items are being checked to make sure they work (batteries aren’t low/dead.) There was also a numbered piece missing out of a bag that was supposed to help us spell something.
