Gather & Collect — Attraction in Glen Ellyn

Visited the area where I have family and friends so it had been recommended to check Gather and Collect for a specialty item I needed. I called and had a very nice and helpful conversation with Julie, the owner. I was excited because she had what I needed but not at the store. She was going to check on it and get back to me while I was in town. She said she'd send me a pic and be in touch the next day. I even arranged for my friend to pick up the item and bring it to me on her spring break trip. I was really happy to find what I needed and Julie was so nice. Then the waiting. I left a voice message because I was leaving town. And a text. I received no call. No text. Nothing. So I cancelled the pick up. It was very unprofessional. A simple text would have been fine. This is my first place to shop for my quirky, fun, crafty, unique friends or whenever I need a dopamine kick. The items are carefully curated by an awesome shop owner and staff that is always welcoming. This place is not an antique high-brow place but more of a shop that all I can compare to is if Amy Sedaris's apartment was shoppable. You will find the one cup that looks like the one from your aunts cupboard from 1987 or a smart ass statement piece that will make the people you love laugh and or think. This place is a GEM. The owner, Julie, has a fantastic eye for style. I've purchased furniture, jewelry, and so much more..... They always have interesting things that you can't get anywhere else- I got an awesome map of Chicago from the 60s that is hanging over my dining room table This is my go to place for gifts, I've found cool pottery that I'll put fresh flowers in for a hostess gift, or pick up a little piece of jewelry for a girlfriend's birthday.
