Never have I ever been so humiliated and disgusted by the way I was treated, especially by someone who's supposed to represent a professional charitable organization. I've had my fair share of run-ins with people that I felt had no business to be serving in the public sector, but by far this representative at this particular goodwill, Jenny, is the absolute worst. They listed a pair of shoes for $7, but as soon as I brought the shoes to the register Jenny quickly said "Oh no this is not the correct price! You have to pay $20 for these shoes." and proceeded to rip the tag off of the shoes and quickly take them to the back stock room. This is fraud! We asked why when we're in California and professional retailers are required to honor the price that something is labeled otherwise it will be considered a bait and switch or false advertising. Jenny, who stated she was the store manager, proceeded to yell at my husband and myself in front of our two children and kicked us out the store despite the fact that we had just purchased a huge bag worth of merchandise. When I pulled out my camera, Jenny SCREAMED at us and threatened to report us and said I could not record their behavior and abusive language towards us and told us to leave or they would file some sort of an incident report, which we took to state that they were threatening to call the police. We are considering filing a charge with the Federal trade commission regarding this matter and we will never ever shop at Goodwill ever again. This is really sad because this is primarily where we come to find quality goods which has been in rare supplies lately anyway. The prices have gone up the quality of clothing and customer service has gone all the way down, so it's no longer advantageous for families looking for a good bargain on nice clothes to come here anymore without being threatened and overpriced for used...
Read moreNever ask for the manager during her lunch time even if it means to get into the locked restroom. All she will do is announce over the loud speaker that she is at lunch. Seems Goodwill has a policy that they cannot work outside of their regular work hours even if that means a n emergency is happening such as you have the runs, the workers on the floor tell you to ask the cashier for the key and they do not have it. The when you ask for the regional manager's phone number they look at you like what are you talking about because when you went inside the store you failed to see that the location was not Goodwill or some unknown person''s name Goodwiil Store. I guess they franchise them out? LOL but not really LOL. Then the location manager wants to play power play by refusing to give you the regional manager's number because I guess she never has to call and she thinks that you are talk to her in a loud voice. Then before she gives you the number she calls the regional manger I guess to pow wow that a call will be coming through about her actions. The regional manager must be a relative because why would you call to soften the blow thinking that your actions are never wrong. when you have a store visitor leaving a pile feces at the door of the men's restroom because the manager is at lunch and would not send someone? Oh, did I tell you that the original employee that gave me the regional manager's number gives an out of service number? And I did not have to unbutton my jeans to cause the mess. gravity was the culprit. It comes out and goes down...
Read moreI purchased a dark blue colored shirt at the location at Sonora and San Fernando Rd but after removing the tag and preparing to wash it, discovered two holes in the left chest area. My first thought is how were the tears not seen by the person inspecting the garment?
Earlier today I returned the shirt to the store. I asked a man who was distributing clothes on racks where I could exchange the damaged shirt. He grumpily pointed to the register, mumbled something indiscernible, and then asked if I had the receipt. I told him I had the receipt. He then pointed and told me to see the cashier. I waited in a long line of people while a single cashier helped all of us. When I finally reached the front of the line, I handed the garment and receipt to the cashier. He examined the shirt and said that without the tag on the shirt, he could not accept the item for an exchange.
I perused the walls and registers and nowhere on these has Goodwill bothered to place its policy as is customary in many businesses. Also, when transacting a sale, cashiers have never said "If you return the item(s), the tag must be on the garment and you must have the receipt."
When I returned to my car, I noticed the policy printed at the bottom of the receipt, something neither male employee I spoke to ever alluded to.
This location has some great finds but poorly trained or informed staff. Critical thinking isn't their forte and neither is customer service. Carefully review anything you intend to buy before putting down money for what...
