Visited it once and didn't realize just how much was there for see. LOTS of history about the local history and the watermen. At least visit it once if you live in the area. Update: Just visited the museum a few days ago. 5 dollars for an adult, and 4 dollars for a senior. There was work going on so many of the outside exhibits were somewhat blocked. Also I thought, at one point, the upper floor was open to visitors? It took us less than an hour to go through. I would say, if I had been by myself, it would have taken two hours. But I love to read and also enjoy asking questions from the staff. Gift shop looked nice and I would have bought one or two books if it weren't for the fact I already had the books in question. Also remember that there are seasonal events and sometimes school trips, so it may be busy, No restrooms on site.

This museum is a hidden gem! We were the only ones in the place most of the time while we were there and the gentleman there was extremely friendly. He explained to us a lot of history of the Chesapeake Bay and Captain John Smith (no, the real one) and Blackbeard and all sorts of other info about the area around Yorktown and the Watermen's history. All of that (and more) is there and scores of model ships that are made in the museum. Also, since I am in the military, I showed him my ID card and got in for free. This was a great experience!

It was a quaint museum with lots of information about vessels and the area's maritime history. Very interesting. Stopped by during the pirate day and it was free so I figured I'd stop by. Unless you really like boats I wouldn't pay the admission fee. The size of the museum and the niche really isn't worth spending money on.

We have been members for two years and came fishing on the pier every year many times. We came this time and we were met with rudeness beyond imagination! Steve, who introduced himself as a president of the museum/pier for last 15 years, and a arrogant girl whom we saw for a first time, told us that we cannot park we’re we usually parked since we are not VIP there and not invited. When we gave the argument that we are paid members he answered that they have over 500 members implying that we are just a number for them, and told us that we have to leave because we are trespassing. The pier is in horrible condition and if they have 500 members they could fix it! Where do all those money from fundraisers and paid members? I will not be surprised if they go not to intended things, not to fix the pier or make the museum better and safer. We will not come there ever again. It left us with...

When the Watermen’s Museum provides a beautiful private beach for a wedding, parking, a lovely high deck for cocktails, the Carriage House for serving food, and a huge tent decorated in chandeliers and twinkle lights, what more could one want? How about perfect weather and the most awesome pink sunset view in Yorktown? That was our experience at our daughter’s August 24th Waterman’s Museum wedding. Our photographer was so excited about all the windmill, the museum, boats and beach. Very little decorating is needed; scenic views everywhere you look! Steve Ormsby and staff were helpful and accommodating every step of the way! The lawn and sidewalks were perfect. Our guests said it was one of the most beautiful weddings they had ever attended! This is truly a top Virginia wedding venue! We couldn’t...
