ATTENTION TO ANYONE PLANNING TO GO SWIMMING Do NOT go to the left of the pier, or near the ANY rocks. TThere are broken oysters shells, sharp as glass. We were there for 5 minutes, sitting up our chairs and the kids came back crying and bleeding all down their legs after just entering the water! (where other kids and parents were already swimming) We went to the ER and they already knew exactly what beach we came from without even asking, the hospital was nearly 30 mins away. Our doctor emailed the city and told them when we were there, they NEED to put something blocking it off or at the LEAST a sign with warning. (There was a sign, but only to not FISH on the rocks.) There was at east 12 kids playing football right next to where my kids got cut, we mentioned something to the officers riding around and they did nothing about the kids swimming over there. After 8 stitches, a butterfly, and her friend has 3 deep cuts on the bottom of her feet. 3 Antibiotics for this. Would not recommend this...
Read moreThis is a pretty nice beach. It has a beautiful waterfront with some sand, rocks, and a great view of the Coleman bridge— perfect for laying out on a nice day. If you are already in your bathing suit when you arrive and you aren't worried about changing into regular clothes you won't have to worry about finding a changing room/rest room (unless you need to use the restroom). We went on a beautiful Saturday in June and I wouldn't call it crowded. Enough people to make parking a commodity but not so many that you feel like people are sitting on top of you.
We did find jellyfish, and they can be a bit unnerving to bump into if you aren't used to it, but the clear blob-like jellyfish we saw do not sting (I held several in my hand and no strings and it was the same for my kids). Closer to shore you might find little snails and little...
