I was recommended by my uncle (Bobby Long) to try Jernigans because he had used them for 30 years and had no problems. I decided to do that since I wanted something with quality that would last a long time. Well, it didn't. I ordered from them 2 motorized recliners with remotes for $3500 on July 2nd 2020 and was told it would take 8 weeks to receive. We didn't get the recliners until October 7th. I was never called after that initial "delay" and it was never communicated that it wouldn't be in for another month. We had to call. When we received the recliners - they were totally different from each other which is odd because they're the same recliner. One reclined with your head almost to the floor and the other wouldn't recline enough. Around December/January I called the Manager, Jeff and he stated that someone would come out and look at it. I explained the problem and that the motors were also extremely loud and that Lazyboys shouldn't do that. We've had those all our lives and never had an issue. Shortly after that call, the mechanism for lowering the chair broke completely and wouldn't lower at all. The guy that fixes the furniture (Chuck) came out looked at it and said the frame was bent and it had to be a manufacturer issue, the bar in it was twisted and upside down. Well, we asked if a grown man of 200lbs would have broke it and he said "No, these are built to hold 350 pounds. This is a manufacturer defect and we'll have to order parts." I don't know why they didn't just replace the chair but they didn't. Another month went by and finally they picked it up on February 22nd with the "we'll have it for 2 weeks and return it to you." It's now April 21st and they STILL haven't fixed the chair. It's been in their possession for 2 months and no work has been done on it. I've talked to the repairman three times and at first it was "I'll have it done by April 8th or 9th." I've had this chair for only 2 months but I ordered it last July...explain this to me. My recommendation is to go somewhere else. You can buy 12 lazyboys for what I paid for 2 and if each last only 5 years, then your money is better spent elsewhere. I can understand wanting to sell products, but why don't you make the customer you sold something too happy first and fix their stuff? It's common sense. They could have just as easily ordered a new one, but...it's all about the bottom line and not the customer. Now, the other recliner is doing the same thing and we'll probably have that taken for another 3 months. Economically, it just doesn't make sense to go here for furniture. We bought a dining room set, a livingroom set and recliners totaling $8000 and I regret every penny spent. Now, we're being told that it'll be ready on April 29th...I'm not holding my breath at this point. I don't like excuses/putting blame on someone else. If your product is the problem - then just fix it...in a concise timeline. We went in today to say "Either fix the recliner or give us a refund" and what does the owner say..."Well, I'll have an answer for you this evening!" No, it's my chair and my money that was spent - I'm just gonna call my credit card company and ask for a chargeback. You're literally saying you don't care about your reputation...
Read moreUpdate: Our custom furniture arrived about a month after the first post. The creme and wood grain recliner is gorgeous, but it was malfunctioning (made a LOUD scrapping noise whenever you'd kick out the recliner). I caught it just as the truck was pulling off; stopped the workers and they agreed that it wasn't supposed to do that - they took it apart and found the problem - they had to take it back for a replacement. It took about a month to get the new one. We bought a leather sofa-bed also. It's very nice looking with quality semi-soft leather - it feels so good to sit on and lay on that couch. However the sleeper-bed is very uncomfortable - we pulled it out/slept on it and immediately noticed. We stuck it out overnight and woke up with back aches... not comfortable at all. While at the showroom, I was encouraged to pay more for the "thicker mattress". I would not put anyone on it overnight until I can figure out how to make it more comfortable. I should call them up - because I think they gave me the wrong mattress. This sleeper was too expensive to sleep so poorly. Overall - their furniture is beautiful with high quality materials, but check the functionality to ensure it performs as advertised. They are very nice, down to earth people and it's certainly worth the time to visit their store.
Ronnie Flanagan provided excellent service to me; he was very patient, clearly knowledgeable about the furniture business and how to match pieces to get the desired results. I had a very good experience shopping at Jernigan Furniture store. The store is setup nicely with quality furniture. I'm expecting my delivery in a couple of months; I will post an update about the quality of the...
Read moreUPDATE: We ordered a sofa and loveseat. We received 2 loveseats. We had the bait and switch done by the salesman, Craig. My husband saw the same set online and Craig said they have a reputation for doing a bait and switch. I think he was confused on who does the bait and switch. My husband was supposed to receive a call back from Craig to rectify the issue. To no prevail my husband didn’t get a call back. I guess Craig thought if he didn’t acknowledge our concerns we would go away. P.S. Craig’s focus during the sale was to please leave him a great review. I did give him a great review before we received the furniture. My gut told me to wait to post a review. I should have posted after our furniture was delivered. Our purchase wasn’t inexpensive. We bought leather recliners (couch and loveseat). It’s sad when customer service doesn’t matter, only the bottom line $$$.
We were at the Goldsboro location a couple of months ago. This is where we met the salesman, Craig M. Even though the Smithfield store is closer to us, we decided to travel an hour to go back to the Goldsboro store because our salesman, Craig M. Craig is knowledgeable, helpful, and honest. You will not be...
