I had them install a two way remote start kit in my truck. When I picked up my truck I noticed the check engine light was on (the first time it had ever been on).
I gave it some time, and reset the code, which immediately set again.
I contacted the store, and was immediately told it wouldn't have anything to do with their install. They said they would need to schedule an appointment to inspect it. While doing this the technician (different than the installing tech), said the paperwork said the check engine light was on when the vehicle came in. I immediately called original technician out as a liar.
The technician in my opinion used the paperwork to cover his error.
Out of curiosity I popped the hood on my vehicle and within seconds spotted the problem, the technician had disconnected part of the wiring harness, and failed to reconnect it. Upon reconnecting this, the check engine light was fixed.
Bothered by the dishonesty of this employee I filled out their survey and asked to be contacted. Below is the verbatim response:
"Good afternoon. I have reviewed your Geek Squad survey comments and talked with my installers. The lead technician that worked on your vehicle stated that he was responsible for disconnecting and failing to reconnect the wire that was causing your error code. He informed me that he was apologetic about this. The service engine light that he notated on his initial paperwork was done so before he performed any work on your vehicle. This could have been for a variety of non-Geek Squad related things, i.e., low oil, etc.
To imply that our people went back after the fact to fill that in on your paperwork is unfounded. Our people have come to us when they have made mistakes that cost the company hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars without hesitation. My team of technicians are known throughout the community for providing the highest quality of service around. Mistakes happen to the best of us. Unfortunately, a mistake was made on your vehicle where the tech failed to replace an item that he unplugged to prevent doing physical damage to your vehicle.
If there is anything else you need to add you can contact me at this email.
Sincerely,
Tony Oakes"
Accepting responsibility for the physical error is a petty way of sidestepping the much more damaging fact that an attempt was made to cover up for the error.
Be warned if you utilize any installation services from best buy, that you need to have a copy the completed pre-inspection prior to leaving your...
Read moreThe only reason this store doesn't have a 0 is because you can't give it one so I was forced to give it a star but it doesn't deserve that. My experience at Best Buy today was one of the worst shopping experiences I have ever had in my 27 years of living in Grand Junction. I was literally profiled, followed and harassed by no less than 9 employees. One employee went so far as to pick up the bag I was looking at for my laptop and check the inside of it to see if I had put any unpaid merchandise there. I was profiled and stalked and made to feel completely unwelcome in the store... as if I wasn't allowed to browse or look at any other items than what i originallywalked in for. I actually did have a chance to speak to the manager on duty and the only answer that he could provide me withe could provide me with is that the items I was choosing to buy didn't did not make sense to them. Considering they were items from their store I don't know why it wouldn't make sense to them or why they would care. You would think they would be happy for the patronage. I had a basket worth probably 4 to $500 which I could have easily paid for and showed the manager I had cash. Needless to say I left at least 3/4 of what I was going to buy and only walked out with 3 maybe 4 items, The only items that brought me there in the 1st place instead of the ones that would have been considered "up sales". I was actually accused of taking too long in the store ...I didn't know shopping had a time limit on it ... After all I was well within their store hours, By the time I left it was only 6:55pm .... an hour and 5 minutes before closing at 8pm. I left that store madder than I have ever been in a very long time and in tears. I am sure my blood pressure had to be through the roof they are lucky I didn't have a heart attack on their front checkstand. I admit I may have been a little bit of a Karen today but I made sure that every customer In that store, and there were not many...heard our conversation. I will be sure to hopefully never have to cross their threshold again and choose to find what I need either online or in a competitor store such as Target or someone else, where I am not made to feel this way. With all the stores that have been closing you would think they would have welcomed the sale, instead they treated me as a thief. I would encourage you not to support or spend your money at a store who treats their customers...
Read moreOn the way out I saw a gorgeous woman in the return line which was so long it reached the exit. As I floated towards the door my ancient brain went dizzy with indecision as I wondered if fate was leading me to ask this girl any kind of question that would lead to me in my forties finally having that wife at home who laughs with me under the blanket at dawn on cold winter days and a couple of kids who come in and ask if they can watch tv and we say “not til your homework is done” instead of just a life of visiting other people’s happiness and pretending to be ok. But the closer I got the more beautiful she became and I’d just been googling Icarus at the phone counter while I waited to have my galaxy worked on and when I was within a distance of smelling her perfume I heard my fathers voice say I was a loser and my childhood bullies say I was fat and I wondered if she met my brother while we were together if she would gravitate towards him as most moons do in his Miami mansion as an ER doctor and I couldn’t even pass remedial science sand barely had chemistry with anyone. And time slowed. And she looked at me. This angelic light skinned Mormon glowing best buy returning chunk of fate, and she smiled. And I looked away. Because I didn’t want to be creepy. And because I hated myself. And I left into the cold desert of grand junction dusk. And I went to the car and felt weak. Felt sad. Felt alone. Felt like I was filled with all the preservatives of the burger kings I eat which is why I never change. and can’t find my burger queen. And then the sliding doors parted and from my drivers seat I saw her walking towards me. And I remembered my car was ugly said my last girlfriend and I should sell it and it makes me look poor. And lo and behold the white light from the return line was returning to her car,… and it was parked directly next to mine!!!! And my window was down my window is always down because it’s stuck down because I can’t figure out how to take the door panel off let alone fix it because the last time I fixed it I couldn’t get the door panel back on and had to pay a man with a better father than mine maybe to put it back together and I thought that’s who she should be with. And I backed out. And left her in the rear view. And I still think about her. The girl...
