The office staff gave us a tour of the Opera House for my daughter's Wedding! WE had never been to the Opera House! Our future Son in law, my husband and my daughter all went. They walked us thru the basement area considered the Terrace area where we were told the wedding would take place! We booked the wedding at the Opera House because the Son in law is from the area! Thinking this would be convenient for everyone. It is painful to recall the events that took place after that. I decided to call one of the Office ladies who is also an events planner you can hire. The phone was not answered when i called so, i left a message inquiring about prices of the linens from the list given to us! I received a call back at 9:00 pm. At that time i had forgotten why i called. I asked about the price of linens. Keep in mind she called me at 9:00 pm. She was very cold and said to call her back in the morning. Long story short we were misled on the building, where the actual wedding took place. They were very rude to speak to on the phone and on one occasion one of the office women hung up on me. Because i questions what we were being charged. We stayed after to make sure the building was picked up and everything was put back in it's place. The after hour guy told us we were clear everything looked good. Then they wrote up the most ridiculous list of reasons we would not get our deposit back, excessive glitter on the floor being one. This was an extremely disappointing way for my daughters wedding to go. They haven't got people skills and were really AWFUL...
Read moreAs an active participant in the wedding industry, I find it necessary to express my deep disappointment with the level of customer service exhibited by this venue during a recent wedding I attended. I was also disappointed by the lack of proactive measures taken by the wedding venue to address the power outage, leading to the absence of essential amenities such as air conditioning during a summer wedding. Management labeled the situation as an “Act of God" without giving any alternative solutions which was obviously extremely upsetting on a day that means so much to a bride and groom. Fortunately, because of the resourcefulness of a few wedding guests, who purchased a last-minute generator, we were able to partially light the space with string lights and provide power to the DJ's setup. The party did go on, but at the end of the night we encountered another huge let down by the venue management. A guest inquired about the possibility of storing the generator on-site for overnight safekeeping and the night-shift guy not only refused to store the generator, he also felt the need to exchange offensive gestures to the remaining guests. Such a disheartening finale to an already trying experience.
It is my sincere hope that this review prompts the venue owners to consider investing in essential resources such as flashlights, emergency lighting systems, and generators to mitigate the impact of unforeseen power outages. (Oh, and maybe hire a more professional staff member for the night-shift who fulfills the minimal duties that were originally...
Read moreWe had such a wonderful experience with our wedding at the Grand Ledge Opera House! The venue is absolutely stunning, including the grand ballroom and terrace levels in the opera house itself, as well as the vibrant terrace area connected to the Grand River outside. We had both our wedding ceremony and reception upstairs in the grand ballroom with less than two hours during our cocktail hour to reset the room and the opera house staff did an excellent job transitioning the room during this time. Needless to say, the setup for both the ceremony and reception was absolutely gorgeous.
The staff was wonderful about communicating what to expect with us beforehand and being present and helpful, yet unobtrusive, throughout our wedding day. We thoroughly enjoyed our wedding day at the Grand Ledge...
