The Aroma Labs — Local services in Grand Rapids

What a cool experience! The owner walked us through the process of picking and blending scents, and we each ended up with our own personalized aroma (or two, or three!). After you create your aroma, you have the option to turn it into a perfume, an air freshener, a shower scrub, etc etc. So many fun options!

I also love that they keep your custom scent formula on file so you can reorder it online at any point (or other people can request it if they're looking for a gift they know you'll love). This would be fun for a girls night out, a date night, or even team building (they have a program to create custom scents for businesses as well).

If you visit at the right time, the sweetest shop puppy will greet you! And this is an awesome location right off of Monroe Center downtown, so it's easy to add on dinner before/after to make a whole...

Going to The Aroma Labs is an experience unlike any other in Grand Rapids! This isn’t just another “come make a candle” gimmick; you truly get to sample around 50 different individual fragrances, followed by pairing together various combinations of your favorites, finally landing on your own “signature scent.” It’s also a very affordable and gender-neutral experience. Once you’ve created your fragrance, you decide what you want to do with it (beard oil, car fragrance, room diffuser, body scrub, etc.). The products have a good range of price, so you definitely don’t feel obligated to blow a bunch of money for a fun & unique experience with your friends (unless like me you wanted to!). Lastly, the owner Tanya is incredibly passionate about what she does, sharing her knowledgeable and creativity in such a friendly way. Oh…and her dog Bolt...

I went here as part of a birthday present for my wife, and we brought another couple along as well, and it was very fun, even if you don't have a refined nose lol. There's no pressure to buy anything, which is great, but you'll probably want to buy at least SOMETHING that you make by the end of it. You get to smell a whole bunch of individual fragrances, and then mix them together on different testing sticks, see what you like the most, and then pick a product you might want to have made with the fragrances you made. Whether it be hand soap, shower gel, perfume, a car air freshener, etc. And it is made right there in the store for you, and that's what you pay for.
