Calder Plaza — Attraction in Grand Rapids

Calder Plaza. 2025 Came back again. We were here for the Annual Grand Rapids ASIAN-PACIFIC FESTIVAL in 2025. This time, less people. Less vendors, etc. Food still good. We did see the 'No King' protest.

2023 Not bad. Downtown Grand Rapids. Plenty of parking nearby. Recommend parking at "Vandenberg Garage" which is directly south of this plaza for $15 all day or "Government Center Ramp" which is north of the plaza for $9 all day. Both are decent parking locations.

Nothing really bad, except for running out of toilet paper and water for the outdoor porta potty. Which is fine I guess. Plenty of food, games, and entertainment. You should bring your own chairs, but not...

I was at Calder Plaza to attend the Polish Festival, which was fun, and the food was great, although it was ridiculously priced. The real negative was parking. I drove all around there several times and finally found a parking meter. It was Saturday, so there was no charge, but when I got back, I had a parking ticket. I guess the meter was for the car behind me. Grand Rapids needs more affordable parking to bring people into the...

Anyone who wants to truly experience Grand Rapids needs to see the Calder and touch it. Preferably with their fingers. Look at the shape and see how curvy the thing is.

If you are into art this is the best Calder large metal sculpture. No seriously. Chicago has a couple of them but ours is better....
