Tardy's Collectors Corner Inc — Attraction in Grand Rapids

The Collector's Corner has been around for 33 years, as of this writing. They are a great little "hidden" gem in a run down part of town. Located near the Burton & Eastern intersection, they have parking available in front and back. The Owners are Kirby and Deb Tardy, who have devoted lots of time, sweat, and tears to the comic industry in Grand Rapids, MI. They are great folk who will do anything they can to help! If you do decide to start a "pull list" with them, the communication they offer is GREAT. E-mails come from Tardy at least weekly, and ordering is easy. They offer a stamp program, that (the last time I visited) was one stamp for every $5 spent. When you hit a certain number of stamps (55 I think) you get a $50 store credit. MAJOR RESTRICTIONS APPLY. This shop is too cool! The owners are extremely nice and easy to visit with. I took a collection of Living Dead Dolls that I had been collecting for years. Although I no longer wanted them, it was still a little hard to let go off. The owners were kind and thoughtful to my feelings. They also were very fair in their pricing. I think we both got a great deal and I appreciated being treated so fairly. I didn't feel like they just wanted my "stuff" and to get us out. They visited with us, laughed with us and made it an awesome transaction! I also saw a ton of cool stuff that would draw in a large variety of people. Walking into Tardys is like walking into you’re corner comic shop of yesteryear. Posters, comics and toys dot every available foot of real estate, while the team members hang out, and speak of new comics coming out, or catch up with friends.

Unlike the shops of yesteryear, the shop is clean and organized, while still keeping up the feeling of nostalgia where you and you’re friends read the new comics as a kid.

Gavin and his team at Tardy’s are comic savants, while still personable. They are welcoming to anyone; never will you feel like you are being gatekeepered from a lack of knowledge or because of your opinion of a certain comic.
