Huge burger that was delicious. Rough around the edges, but extremely pleasant and everything went well.
Double Cheeseburger - $16 (including tax for the basket): Huge and delicious. Probably a double quarter pounder sized burger. The burger patties were higher quality, a little thin, but very wide, and grilled perfectly. They were a touch on the lean side. It had a hardy grill flavor like it was charcoal grilled, though it was a flat top grill.
It was wide enough to accommodate everything on the burger very well. It was still messy with ketchup, mustard, and mayo. The other toppings were fresh.
Fries (comes with the basket): Thick cut and many are long. Very filling. They tasted good and stayed very hot. However, they needed more salt, though. The ketchup was good, but a bit on a plain and fruity side with little or no seasoning.
Everything was made to order including the fries and so it was super fresh and hot!
They had an assortment of pops including Pepsi products.
Service: Extremely pleasant and helpful. I was in line, but my order was taken while in line so that it was ready when I got there. When asking for napkins, I was jokingly answered with, “$10?” They have a great sense of humor and did give me a stack of napkins for free.
Atmosphere: 17 chairs spread out to 4 two people tables, 2 four people tables inside. There are two patio tables with glass surfaces and 4 chairs for each table outside. The surroundings are definitely rough around the edges, but the tables and main eating area are clean and brightly lit. If they remodeled or relocated to a nice building, this place would be a bright star for burgers!
Conclusion: I would definitely recommend their burger. While it is not the best burger in Grand Rapids, it is a runner up for sure.

Read moreMy partner found this place on Reddit and she knows how much I love philly cheese steak sandwiches, so she surprised me with a visit here for dinner. The owner was an extremely nice and helpful man, I wish I would have asked his name. He treated everyone like a regular customer whether you were or new like us. He had fun interacting with the kid in our group, once he brought the food out, he jokingly offered his meal half price if the kid could eat everything in front of him. The kid countered with free if he did and the owner agreed. The kid had ordered the cheeseburger special which was huge with a load of fries. My partner and I both got their signature philly cheese steaks and shared an order of fries. The philly was hot and loaded with beef, sauteed onions and green peppers and loaded with cheese then topped with lettuce, tomatoes and mayo. We brought home over half our meals. The kid finished his burger and made a dent in his fries but couldn't finish. They have an amazing selection of canned pop to choose from for your drink. They even had Peach Crush which is hard to find where I live. I spoke with the owner after eating and thanked him for a great sandwich and asked about his wings and he said so so and to stay with the philly. He told us that he had been in this location for 24 years and had loved every minute of it. I could tell by the way he treated his customers. He was doing a brisk business of carry outs but not too many people ate in like us. When in Grand Rapids again, we will definitely be back for...
Read moreStopped here for the first time today because (a) it was near my bus stop and (b) a pita place in residential Grand Rapids MUST be explored! I wasn't disappointed. I haven't gone through the entire menu, in fact I stopped at the first item (!) and got an Original Gyro. With everything and how. The proprietors were friendly but brisk and no nonsense. Very helpful and pleasant. The atmosphere was akin to my favorite Ethiopian places in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa and Columbus, Ohio, USA. Locals gossiping over sodas and take away customers patiently waiting. Interesting that there was also a lottery booth as one walks in the door. All in all a comfortably no-frills experience.
As you might imagine my mouth was watering all the short (though seemingly endless) walk to my temporary digs. Once in the door I tore open the paper wrapping and dug in. Oh my! Delicious. I know not how to describe it other than Yum! And HUGE. Easily enough for three meals if one isn't a pig. I won't say just how much of it I ate. Ahem. I'll most certainly be back! Don't miss out on this small gem...
