Social House Kitchen and Bar — Restaurant in Grand Rapids

I almost didn’t waste my time leaving this review but after seeing multiple other reviews about awful experiences with the bouncer, I felt it was necessary. My friend and I waited in line to get in last night Saturday 4/6 around 9:30pm. When we finally got to the front of the line, the door guy/bouncer(bald light skinned man wearing a winter hat) was so condescending and rude to us for absolutely no reason. When I simply stated “ok, you don’t have to speak so rudely to us.” He snapped and and said “ok you’re not getting in.” He had the most aggressive attitude towards us and caused an entire scene screaming at us and harassing us after we questioned why we couldn’t get in. It seems like he has anger issues and issues with women because he was on a major power trip. You can tell he really thinks he’s “big and bad” for being a door guy. I will never visit this establishment again and plan to share the experience with my friends and family as well. The onlookers that saw him screaming at us and degrading us, were on our side but didn’t want to get involved and just advised us to reach out to management the next day because they had also heard of other bad experiences from friends. AWFUL place. If you read the rest of the reviews, they all have the same pattern of rude & aggressive staff/bouncers, yet management will still continue to back them as if we’re all lying and choosing to have an awful time at the bar. The most disturbing part is I wasn’t even a part of the group who was so poorly treated, but i watched it all. A small group of girls were celebrating a 21st birthday last night & while waiting in line for the bathroom, they were told they needed to leave so they could let more people in (as all they care about is the cover charge) when the birthday girl repeatedly asked why as they just got there and paid to get in, the female bouncer DRAGGED her to the floor and outside. She was full of blood & bruises from her face to her neck and shoulders. I will never return here after watching that. I was mortified, if you want to feel incredibly unsafe in a public place, go here!!! I hope the poor girl is okay & this will definitely be a 21st for her to remember as she was jumped by STAFF. Cant wait to see what response i get from management spinning the story & saying it never happened like the rest of the reviews on here. Disgusting you call...

EXTREMELY rude front staff. This past weekend, my wristband had got caught between 2 tables in the outdoor area and I re stuck it together. I tried to leave to meet a friend from out of town that needed help finding me. The door man (with mohawk) saw my wristband was loose & claimed he wasn’t the person who put the wristband on my wrist, when he was actually the one that did an hour prior. He proceeded to scream at me in front of the entire line of people, made me cry when I tried to explain what had happened (LOL embarrassing) & wouldn’t even let me get a word in! My friends that I came with (who were inside) even saw what was happening and tried to explain & he yelled at them too! Luckily one of the blonde waitress’ recognized me and told the man to let me back in… I have been coming here for the past couple of months and have probably brought/recommended the establishment to 50+ friends, since it’s the happening place in GR.
