1/14/25: I called yet again for an update regarding my deposit and was told AGAIN by staff that I’d be getting a phone call from the property manager. Still nothing.
11/13/24: I still have yet to receive my deposit and am repeatedly told that they recently transitioned management (in July) and that they need to reach out to the prior leasing company to access my information. I have called, emailed, and gone to the office on two separate occasions and am told I would get a response and nothing. The Better Business Bureau has been notified.
8/27/24: I moved out 7/1/24 and was told that I’d receive my deposit within 30 days. Hadn’t heard anything so I went up there on 8/4/24 to speak to someone regarding the deposit and was told I’d be contacted within the week as they’re going through a transition in management. Called today and no one picked up (of course) Am I getting my deposit back or?
This community looks really aesthetic and the leasing office does a great job at marketing their amenities to owners that struggle to find housing that allows restricted breeds. With this being a “dog-centric” community, the amenities such as the existing dog park is embarrassing and a disgrace and the grooming station is disgusting and unsanitary.
Taking my dog on a walk is always a challenge as there’s a 50/50 chance that I encounter an unleashed dog walking around with an unaware/careless owner following behind. The concerning amount of feces scattered throughout the community really add a special touch to the place.
I moved in May of last year SOLELY for the rental discount as an employee of FIDUS. I was told my unit would be cleaned thoroughly before moving in. Surprise! It wasn’t. I requested for it to be cleaned like it was originally supposed to and it was very apparent that it still wasn’t cleaned upon moving in. The shoe prints, strands of hair painted into the bathroom cabinets, weird brown streaks on the walls, and terrible smoke smell that took weeks to air out gave it away. Both shower drains were also completely clogged with the previous tenants hair and required multiple bottles of drain solution to somewhat unclog them. Not only was the unit inside absolutely filthy, the wood chips outside REEKED of urine and the patio would flood even with the slightest amount of rain. After dozens of maintenance requests that would get “resolved” without any action, they finally fixed the mulch and flooding issue last month. Not to mention my A/C unit went out in the peak of summer last year and I had to relocate myself and my dogs for a week due to the temperature failing to go below 88 degrees. I put in a request, they claimed it was “fixed” and that the unit is just working really hard to accommodate everyone trying to cool their units down. It ended up being a part that needed to be replaced all together which took another week. Unacceptable.
The office never answers their phone and the multiple noise complaints filed due to my upstairs neighbor being disruptive go unresolved. The community manager Ashley (I don’t think she’s the CM anymore as of now) issued a lease violation to my upstairs neighbors for the noise but it hasn’t helped much. The buildings have the thinnest walls imaginable so be wary, especially if you decide to live in a downstairs unit. On multiple occasions, I’ve heard my neighbor yelling and cussing at her kid to shut up so of course, I called the courtesy officer but have yet to receive a follow-up regarding the distressed child. I have been trying to reach the office as the end of my lease is coming up in May and my emails remain unanswered. The leasing office is a constant revolving door and they just can’t seem to get it together.
Disappointed is an understatement with Dane Park as a whole. If you value your money/sanity, do not move here. It’s very apparent that all the company cares about is locking people into leases and then going ghost once the paperwork has...
Read moreI was a resident at this apartment complex for 3 total years. The name started as Cross Creek, then changed to Dane Park the last 2 years. The year after the management change, they took away our first responder discount that we previously had, made us pay for a “tech package” that involved a ring indoor and outdoor camera, and a furbo camera. All those adjustments made our rent go up $400 a month. The second year, they did not increase rent, which was ultimately the reason we decided to stay. The third year, they again told us that our rent was going to go up. Inflation, I get it. But for what we were paying, and the amenities we were getting did not make it worth it. The gym was under construction for almost a year when new management came in. We also don’t even own a dog. For us to be paying more than $100 a month on amenities that we don’t even get the luxury to use (we don’t have a dog, and we did not ask for these dog renovations). When we first moved in, it was not a dog eccentric place. It felt towards the end of our stay, that we were getting pushed out because we did not own a dog.
Second, because it is such a “dog friendly” community, it does get very loud. They were repeatedly multiple dogs barking at all times. Not only in our building, but in other parts as well we could hear dogs barking. There was dog feces on the ground that was supposedly going to get picked up to do a dna test on, but that never happened.
The apartment themselves are nice. The counters, cabinets floors are nice. I wish in the living room had a light as well as a ceiling fan, our apartment was dark all the time.
I have read various posts and reviews about Dane Park and the garbage problem. I was also there during that time. The trash got so bad, there were animals, bugs, and lots of smells from the ongoing trash mountain growing on every side of the complex. Since, I have not know if this problem was fixed. But it was horrible.
The building and apartment that I was in, there was a huge parking lot space. That was nice. As well as the walking trail around the complex, that was our favorite part. The location is amazing and there is a fire station right next door.
I’m not going to blame RPM for the mistakes of Graystar. Since I moved into Dane Park in 2021, the name has changed, the property ownership has changed, and just since RPM has taken over in July, there has been 2 general manager changes. It seems like there is a problem since they cannot keep people.
The biggest problem I have with RPM is the lack of respect, communication and integrity. I have never been a resident under the RPM property. But when the management switched from Greystar to RPM, I was owed a deposit refund. It took 7 months of us fighting with RPM to get the said deposit. It took us going up to the office every 2 weeks, hundreds of emails between the 2 general managers Christy and Staci Bilderback, phone calls not answered, and then finally when we had it, we were going to take them to small claims court. Coincidentally we got our deposit shortly after that. Not only is it disrespectful, but it is utterly irresponsible.
As far as what they charge for rent, versus what you would be paying in a mortgage, it’s very similar. I wish some of the problems were fixed while we’re there. From what I’m hearing from people who still live there, the ongoing problems are not stopping. when the complex was cross creek, I have never lived in a nicer and more better apartment. I would have recommended Cross creek to everyone. But since management changed and now it is only for dog parents and people with pets, I would unfortunately not recommend. You will not get anything out of the complex, and unfortunately we felt as though we didn’t get a voice in what happened to us...
Read moreUpdate: I got a chance to speak to Kim and she told me what happened since the takeover. Even though nothing can be done at this point, I felt she was sincere in my issues and was upset that the prior manager didn't do anything to help us out. I do change my "do not recommend" to "recommend" on the fact that Kim really was upset we were leaving and options were not explored prior to the conversation we had. Kim, I appreciate your time today and made me feel like I mattered as a resident. All i ever wanted was to get my issues fixed and knowing that someone in the office actually took note and felt the pain i was feeling is refreshing to say the least. Thank you Kim for being understanding and honest. Maybe in the future, we'll be back as long as you are still here and keep the empathy strong.
When I first moved in, the office staff was helpful. A year later, I can't get out fast enough. This place isn't what it was when I moved in. I don't understand how it keeps getting 5 star reviews. Feel like most are just propped up from people that dont live here to improve their score because they trying to save face. Here's a list of my problems:
Office staff- changes every day seems like. Every month I get charged for renters insurance when I provided them my stuff several times. I asked for a move-out check list and get this- THEY DONT HAVE ONE! Make sure if you move in document EVERYTHING since they don't have a move-out checklist. Never in my life have I heard this. Even it's as simple as Google one.
Apartments- ok. For the price of my renewal, I found something bigger just down the road at the Enclave. Noisy neighbors and we keep complaining and feels like nothing is done. Maintenence does respond timely so I will give them that but overall, no.
Property- the landscape and pool are gorgeous. That seems like all they care about: appearance.
Pest control- explain to me how I pay every month and I can't get Pest control? 3 months in, I started getting pests and Pest control came out several times to "fix" the problem. Also, we have cameras in the apartment and pest control claimed they didnt enter since the dog was out. When reviewing the camera, they never attempted to visit. Another time, we took off to talk to them and they never showed. Told the office, the dog was out and we specifically took off to talk with them. Finally, when we got someone to come check, it turned out, the illegal tenants lived in the walls and coming in through the refrigerator water line opening. We asked several times if we can change apartments or get a small one until a treatment was done. Kept getting told yes yes yes and never happened. All our stuff, most has to be disposed of becuase the pests are in everything and I'll be damned if I am taking them anywhere. I even asked if I left behind the stuff, do I have to pay a disposal fee and they told me yes. They failed on multiple occasions to fix the pest problem and now I have to pay to clean AND buy new stuff.
Don't fall for it with their pet-friendly ploy. It's an illusion because once you move in, all they care about is money. And for the person responding to the posts, please don't. My lease ends in 2 weeks and I will NOT come back here. And I don't want a response because when I needed yall in the office throughout my lease (both and new company), no one was ever available or I kept getting the runaround but now, you wanna respond since everyone can...
