This is a warning for parents - my son has been getting gift cards, aka their tokens, for the last few years for his birthday, etc. He is getting to an age where I want him to interact and lead the process of what he wants to buy and complete the transaction, so I am there but standing back to let him do his thing. What I did not realize is they have been shorting him his change every time. He bought a comic that was like $11.08, to which he gave them $12 of the "gift card tokens", she did not give any change back and I questioned why and she stated they don't give change. That simply doesn't make sense. Because now I don't recommend my family to buy gift card tokens there anymore, now I feel bad knowing that over the last couple years if this has repeated itself countless times how much money he/we have lost out on, probably enough for a handful of additional comic books. I know it was only $0.92, and to be fair she did give change AFTER I stepped in, but I don't know anywhere that you can't use a gift card down to zero, and if they can't provide that option that doesn't entitle them to keeping the change of a gift card that someone bought like they are owed interest. Thinking to the last few months alone now that is $5.52 at least. Let alone all the rest of our visits. Then add in everyone who buys these tokens for gifts and they keep the "round up" difference. No thanks. I hope that is not an actual policy in place because it certainly is a reason to change future visits and where we recommend buying gifts for him or us.
UPDATE: they followed up and shared their insight and did so very professionally. Thank you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA five star, to one star, back to five star review: I've been a customer for many years now. Love the atmosphere in the shop. The staff has always been very friendly and downright easy to talk to. I'm being treated like a fellow hobbyist, and not a walking wallet, every time I set foot in the store. I've watched the store change over the years. I like what I've seen, and deeply appreciate the effort of the staff in providing a welcoming environment. The staff has gone out of their way for me personally without fuss. I had left a couple miniatures that I'd poured my heart and soul into in their display case. That case, and any miniatures within, had been removed after others had been disrespectful to it and the hard work that the staff and customers had contributed for each other to enjoy and be inspired by. The staff kept my minis safe and saw them returned to me. Having someone else take an active interest in protecting something I worked hard on, and ensuring it made it back to my hands was a meaningful experience for me as a mini painter, let alone a customer. Other reviewers have made comments in the past suggesting that this is a den for aggressive, elitist players and that you should avoid spending any time upstairs in the game area. None of this has been true in my experience. Every visit to the store, I've seen nothing but friendly people sharing their passion for all the awesome things that come with being a 'nerd.' If you're in to miniatures, comics, collectibles and toys, games of all shapes and sizes then this is a store for you.
Thank you for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNormally Id rate the store a 3 or 4, however they are getting 1 because they dont care about their customers. I went in to try and buy some primer from citadel paints. They didnt have it which is fine if tabletop model gaming isnt their target, however after I flagged the employee down and asked if I could order it (you know support your local game store) They said sure no problem and the guy that does the orders will place it Friday and it should be in the following Thursday. I call Thursday to see if they have gotten their order in and low and behold they did but no primer, they said they would reorder it and it was the distributors fault and they have been having trouble getting stuff in from GW lately. So I give them the benifit of the doubt, confirmed that it would be in next Thursday so I again waited the 7 days called back and to my shock...wasnt in the order. They got GW product from what they said on the phone but forgot my paint again. Ive asked a few people that play their and it seems the 40k / AoS crowed is very low and I'm wondering if its the poor selection / inability or unwillingness to provide their customers with service. Their 40k and AoS crowed has always been pretty low from my understanding even before the Warhammer store in Loveland arrived and yet when I go in there there are ALWAYS people playing or looking to pick up a game. Think if they treated their MTG crowed this way and or WoC opened a store like this within 60 miles this place would have nothing to stand on except ignoring the customers when...
