Our family was excited to try Doug's Diner and we were happy to hear that they were thinking they would serve dinner once established. Greeley REALLY needs some good restaurants! We visited an hour before closing and the restaurant was not very busy. We were seated pretty quickly. After looking at the menu, we were happy to see several menu options for vegetarians.
I had the Breakfast Quesadilla (flour tortilla, cheese, egg, bell pepper, greeb chile, sour cream, pico de gallo and guacamole) with Hashbrowns. Hubby had the Skinny Papas (hashbrowns, cheese, mushrooms, onion, bell pepper, spinach, tomato and green chile topped with 2 eggs) and our son had Greeley Crepes (stuffed with cream cheese and topped with strawberries and whipped cream) with hashbrowns.
Our son was happy with his crepes but his hashbrowns were undercooked which was odd since the rest of us were served overcooked, old hashbrowns. Hubby liked his Skinny Papas but said his hashbrowns were overcooked and hard like they were old and had been recooked. My breakfast quesadilla tasted okay but seemed like pretty skimpy amount of ingredients in them and they were made with 1 tortilla folded over, so really a half of a normal sized quesadilla. My hashbrowns were overcooked and hard and had a burnt taste to them. I would have requested a new order of hashbrowns but our server never came back to check on us after we received our food. I did not eat my hashbrowns as they were not good. A man came to ask if he could clear some of our plates away and saw that I hadn't eaten my hashbrowns and asked if our food was good. I told him about how hard the hashbrowns were and he Looked at them and agreed that they didn't look good and said "sorry about that" and walked away but that was it - didn't offer to remake them or take something off of our bill or even tell anyone there was an issue with the food.
We were told that everything is fresh and cooked to order with fresh, local ingredients and attention to detail but that obviously didn't happen with our food and the restaurant was not busy, so it's not like being busy was the reason for the issues. For diner food that was not well cooked or presented and mediocre service, we thought the food was overpriced. For the three of us to eat a pretty basic breakfast it was over $30.
The entire time we were there employees were scurrying around sweeping and mopping the floors which we thought was inappropriate. They were sweeping right by us which was stirring up dust that inevitability settled on our table and food and the cleaner they were mopping with had a very strong odor that made my head hurt (I have sinus issues that are made worse by strongly scented cleaners). These kinds of cleaning tasks should be done after the restaurant is closed and all customers have left.
Honestly, we were not very impressed. We will probably give them one more try but overall it was a...

I like to ride my motorcycles around to diners and review them. I visited Doug's Day Diner on 3 April 2021 all the way from Aurora. It's a chain restaurant in Colorado and there are locations in Aurora, but as they say, "it's not about the destination, it's about the journey." Now on to the review:
First off, the diner is in an old business district with brick roads. It almost feels I time traveled. I like to sit at the bar and so I did today. It's a tall bar right next to the entrance. The dining room is very clean and spacious. The coffee was amazing! I'm certain they clean their pots and coffee makers regularly. I order their "Big Pig" omelet stuffed with ham, bacon, onions, tortilla strips, and smothered with red and green chili. It came with thick cut hash browns and toast. Next time, I'd probably have just the green chili. The red chili wasn't bad, just not my taste.
I don't usually mention my servers by name, but Kacie was my server today. She was the right amount of attentive and very nice. I left her a handsome tip and I would recommend you do the same. No matter who your server is, I'm certain they will have the same level of attentiveness and pleasantness. I could find nothing wrong with this diner and would highly recommend. If this is the standard for all locations, I'd say you can't go wrong with any one you visit. If I could give higher than 5 stars, I would. I would...
Read moreI love diners, and coming to Doug"s for my first time, I was excited and ready for a great diner meal. Unfortunately, Doug's really didnt deliver the day we went. The people I was with all had lunch, actually the patty melt. To me it looked good and they all enjoyed it....each one said that the side dish of french fries just werent that good...limp, and luke warm, as if they had sat under a light for a while. To bad. Now, on to my complaints....we waited roughly 30 minutes after we ordered for our food. It didnt seem overly busy. Diners are about good, comfort food...fast. it just seemed to me that it took a bit too long. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla made with chorizo, and hashbrowns extra crispy. The plate was huge and seemed like a good value as I think it was only 10 bucks. My hashbrowns were hat and fully crisp...nice! The quesadilla was good, lots of eggs, a good amount of filling...I personally wouldnt order the chorizo again as it was greasy, but I had expected that from chorizo. My big complaint with the dish was the brown guacamole. It looked as if it sat around too long without enough acid in it to keep it from turning...yuck! As Greeley is pretty limited on most kinds of restaurants outside of mexican, I am sure that I will eventually return. I hope that I can give it more stars and a better review...
