Calling all amateur city planners, architecture historians, or students of FDR. This museum is for you. You will learn the history of FDR's New Deal Greenbelt housing initiative to alleviate housing scarcity. While it obviously had limited results, this is a glimpse into the coming public housing that would be built in mass over the decades to follow, and the intricate city planning that tried to make it a great place to live. The museum highlights one of the original units constructed and furnished with appropriate 1930s period furniture. The docent led tour was very professional and the tour guide(forgot her name) was in her element and passionate about the history of Greenbelt and how the denizens lived.
