Came here for Sleep Token from out of state. The venue itself was clean and well kept. The staff was friendly and helpful when we encountered them.
For my friend and I we arrived at the venue around 4:30 and got into line around 4:45-5pm. On the ticket in my email it said that we should get there by 6 because doors would open at 6:30pm. When we found a line at the front of the venue there was no signage or workers nearby to let us know if that's where we were supposed to be. We asked a few others in line and they all just shrugged and assumed it was correct so we decided to take our chances.
Around 6:30pm we were told by the other attendees in line that the doors would not be opening up till 7:30pm. Still no interaction with the staff ensuring us that this was the correct line or letting us know when the doors would open or what the delay was. When 7:30 arrive we still had no information. Around 7:40 we overheard through the parking lot staff's walkie that they would delay doors opening till 8pm. Yet again, the attendees in line had to relay the message to the rest of the crowd of the change. It was wild to me that such a delay would happen without a staff member just letting everyone know. Obviously things happen and delays occur. I'm not upset about that. I'm frustrated with the severe lack of communication to the crowd in where we needed to be and when things were going to happen. I've been to plenty of concerts in different venues across many states and this was the first time I experienced such disregard to communicating with the attendees.
Once we were in though the experience was efficient. Getting through security wasn't bad, we had our clear bags ready to be searched. I had pre-loaded my tickets from Ticketmaster into my Google wallet and apparently it didn't work at this venue so I had to wait a moment to load Ticketmaster app up again. Which I heard was a problem for many people getting into the venue and caused a bit of a delay. Would've been nice to know that it needs to be on Ticketmaster only.
We were finally able to sit in our seats by 8:20ish and the opener (Thornhill) started at 8:30. I heard many people were still stuck outside until at least halfway through the sleep token set!! Which is crazy and I have no idea what caused such delays.
We had previously gone to Gas South Arena in Duluth for another sleep token concert and the experience was so vastly different. We still had a blast and enjoyed our time. We were lucky that we were seated and able to enjoy our time but sadly that was not the experience for everyone at this show and I don't really get why. Things happen, stuff gets delayed. It just sucks that it affected to many...
Read moreGreat place for younger people to see a concert but it doesn't do enough to cater to older people or people with disabilities. There aren't nearly enough handicapped parking spaces outside nor is there enough seating inside. There are elevators here and there but people who don't need to use them do, leaving those of us that do need them waiting in a tremendous line. There are plenty of stairs that should be escalators. There aren't enough places to buy apparel and therefore you miss so much of your show just standing in line to get a t-shirt or something. The apparel stands are never open after the shows so again, another inconvenience. There needs to be more places to enter the building that are closer to where your seats are actually located. The parking lot should be coded in a manner that directly corresponds with seating arrangements. It seems like something that would be so easy to do and it would definitely be more appealing to people when considering whether or not they want to see a show there. I don't know how much stock the Greensboro Coliseum actually puts into the reviews that people take time to write, but if they cared at all what people think, they would take the reviews with constructive criticism very seriously and work on making improvements based on what people have to say, especially if it's something that would help handicapped people. All that said, it's very clean inside. Most importantly, the ladies restroom was clean. I can't speak for the men's. The sections for the seats are clearly marked making it easy to know where you need to go. Once you get inside to where the seats are, it's harder to find your seats unless the lights are on. Lowlights at the steps and seats would be a huge help. There are tons of places to get beer, liquor or soft drinks & water. There are food booths as well. I got a cheeseburger ($12.00) and french fries. The food was really good. The cheeseburger was actually bigger than a whopper! The fries were seasoned and cooked perfectly. You can get popcorn and candy as well. I've been to countless shows here and I'm quite sure I'll attend many more as long as I can still walk fairly well. There's a lot of walking involved, even if you have the absolute best parking and seats. This venue hosts some of the best shows out there so all around, I'll definitely go again but really would like to see some changes made. There's definitely room for some improvements. I'm sorry for the length of my review but I actually read other people's reviews about about everything before I purchase anything. I try to be thorough when leaving a review so people can make informed...
Read moreI have never been more unhappy with a venue. My friend, boyfriend, and me arrived for the Tyler, The Creator concert around 11:30. The staff numbered us and we were 34,35, and 36. After waiting hours, they started lining the first 100 up in their number order around 4. When the doors opened at 5:30 the people behind the first 100 rushed in front of the line. There were two sets of double doors, but only one side of one set was open. As my boyfriend and I were being rushed he tripped over a barricade that was on the right side of the door. I was shoved into in and my right ankle got stuck in it. As this happened my head was slammed against the door, while my left leg was wrapped around the other side of the door. People were running by my leg and falling on top of me. I began to cry and scream hysterically for help. After finally finding a way to get up somehow we rushed through the metal detector and waited with the other hundreds of people, slammed against the gate door (the gate opened up like a garage door). When the gate opened people sprinted and pushed each other as expected. I was pushed down, hit my head again, and people began to pile and stomp on top of me. My entire body was covered and being trampled over. During this, I was also screaming and crying hysterically for help. Being only 5 feet tall and 120 pounds it is very easy for people to trample right through me. My boyfriend and 2 other kind men attending the concert were able to get people off me and drag me out from the cluster of people on top of me. I was finally able to run and get a spot on the floor. I am very thankful for the people that helped me, but where was the security? The security outside went inside when the doors open, which was a very crucial time for security. When I screamed for help, no one was there. The security should of been able to help me and the other people struggling to even stand up. The security needed to be better and it was necessary for them to be more strict during this event. I am very thankful to not be seriously injured, but it was very possible that I could of been. I have been to 5 concerts, and none of them have been this hectic. I am aware that insane fans do exist, but it should not have been this disorganized. Greensboro Coliseum Complex should of been more prepared, and lacked a decent...
