My cousin and I had just arrived in town and was looking for a nice vegan restaurant in the area so that we could have something to eat before going to the GHOE step show at the Greensboro Coliseum.
We searched Google to get some suggestions and came across this restaurant. We decided to try it out as it was about four minutes or less from the Coliseum.
The outside of the building is painted in green and black which provided a fun and inviting look. The interior also has a fun and calming vibe. Upon entering, we were greeted by the cashier, Alex, in a friendly and professional manner.
We both ordered identical meals: vegan Philly cheesesteak with fries and a mango lemonade. We were given an order number to place on the table as we were dining in. We walked around to find a table that was cleaned. One of the reasons why I am giving this restaurant 4 stars and not 5 stars is because there were a few tables that were not yet cleaned off. The one we ended up choosing was the cleanest of those other ones, but it still needed to be wiped off which Alex was happy to do.
Our food came out in a timely manner. The fries were good, but there were a good bit of burnt ones in there. Alex was kind enough to give us a replacement of fries after being notified of this.
The Philly cheesesteak was absolutely scrumptious! The bread was soft and moist, and the meat substitute was seasoned perfectly. The onions, peppers, and special sauce really brought it altogether in a burst of wonderful flavors in my mouth. I truly enjoyed this cheesesteak and was wishing that I had ordered one to go as well. I was impressed by the quality, quantity, and taste of this cheesesteak. I would absolutely go back there to try it again the next time that I am in town.
The homemade mango lemonade was also really good. It was a bit expensive though, $7.00.
The bathroom looked and smelled clean.
This vegan spot was definitely a great find. It was moderately priced though. For a sandwich, fries, and a drink, the cost was about $25 - $26. Although this restaurant is costly, the delicious tasting food makes it worth it.
I will...
Read moreMy sister and I used to set money aside to order large orders from Mike's when we used to go to the food truck in Charlotte. I moved to Greensboro and was excited to go to the brick and morter location. Then, the food was still excellent. I inquired about what was used to make some of the items and was told which ones include soy or Beyond. I was grateful for the information, but I recall the guy asking me what my issue was with soy, as if it was a requirement. I just chalked it up to him maybe wanting more information in case it was an issue he needed to be aware of in the future.
It was a while before I returned, but I placed a rather large order for my family of four. Everyone typically liked to order a couple of things each. My mother cannot eat peppers, so I ordered hers without and the guy taking the order basically told me that some of the modifications I made were difficult because that's the way they prepared the items and it would change the overall taste. Got the food home and there wasn't just peppers on the quesadilla. It appeared they added extra to be smart rears.
I hadn't returned until recently, which is when I made the decision to never return. If they were giving the food away, I wouldn't line up for it. It was still hot when I picked it up, so that's a plus, but the quesadilla was a soggy mess. I don't know what that sauce was on it, but it looked like glue, had no taste and there was so much of it I literally gagged on the second bite. The po boy was pretty decent, but if it weren't for the sauce, it would've had no flavor.
This place has gone downhill in two years. I won't be back. It's a shame too. There aren't many vegan restaurants in the area as it is. I guess I can delete one of my favorites...
Read moreOrdered via UberEats and there was an issue with the driver and delivery. Ordered again, and they refused to make my food when the second driver arrived. Some guy named Rick complained that they had made the order twice already and it had been picked up both times. However, this could not have been accurate, as the app indicated at no point that my order was picked up a second time and the driver who was assigned the order was just as confused as I was. It was suggested that the ordered was likely stolen, which tells me the employees were not doing their jobs, was lazy, and gave away my food. They lied and told the driver they had now been closed and would not make the food. The order was not cancelled, so it was handed off to another driver who showed up ten minutes following this interaction. Not only did Rick refuse to make the food, when I asked him whether they verified that the person who picked up my order was actually assigned to do so, he did not answer the question. Later in the conversation, after inconsistency and what he was telling me and obvious avoidance of accountability, he suddenly says he confirmed that the driver was assigned my order. Once again, this could not have been the case. He then claimed that they’ve just began cleaning the grills and wouldn’t complete the order, which further confirmed he was dishonest the whole time, as he’d said to the previous driver 10 minutes prior that they had already been closed and unable to complete the order. There obviously needs to be some change in staffing. Lazy, rude, dishonest, disappointing, and overall...
