A big catch , A Bull Red Fish weighing at 40 lbs was hooked by this young fellow when he went fishing in the channel at Jones Park. The fish broke the rod and he landed it by hand. He had a bit of struggle with this big beauty. Make sure you have your fishing license on hand before you start your fishing adventure. State Wildlife officials do appreciate your respect to adhere to rules. So if you are in the mood for big catch , then this is the place to go saving yourself from deep sea fishing charters.

This park is filled with fun, leisure, outdoor activities all ages will enjoy. You will find a nice bait shop here if you are planning a fishing trip . The park welcomes locals and tourists or vacationers.

Enjoy the beach on the sand or in the water, meet new friends and the locals are friendly , as well as helpful with directions.

Here you can catch a ferry for a trip to the Island and purchase tickets for the ride or you can spend a day full of adventure at the kids splash park. Never a boring moment here . View wildlife and marine life in their natural.habitat, take hotos for memories of your fun time with family and friends. Gulfport welcomes all and hopes that you will visit again. Don't forget to visit other city parks around the Gulfport area that may include sports parks, pavilions, picnic tables and fire pits, playgrounds, splash parks, pools,...

More than a park!!!!! Charming and extremely multifaceted. Delightfully overcast cloud cover It was, however, exquisitely elegant as the ran fell softly then pelted away with a heavy downpour. Visitors and neighbors rushed to see the impact, to play in the rain and splash pool area. The Barksdale Pavillion beckoned all who sought cover and refuge. Signs nailed to the wall at the back of the pavillion showed High water levels of Camille and Higher water levels of Katrina. They were many feet above my head. Many yachts and boats are docked and there are Ship Island Excursions for fishing and history lovers to tour. There is a bus and trolley service for those who elect to have a public transit chauffeur. Bathrooms are available and there is ample parking. A walking/ jogging trail near the pavillion and beach is so cool; guess what, there are a few exercise stations for us to strengthen other body parts as well. Thanks City planners!!! Movies are also shown during the summer season. Free popcorn - yummiest. So, bring your chairs or blankets, the kids, a date, your scrumptious spouse or just enjoy the movies under the stars as you smile and appreciate your singleness. There are food trucks on site during the movies as well. An Aquarium is being built across the street from Jones Park. Well, adventure lovers, that's all for now. TEAM BUILDING: Yes, I...

Great little beach front park. You don't think of beaches when you think of Mississippi. Florida is what comes to mind. But there has been a considerable effort put towards cleaning up and modernizing the beach area here, since the first time I passed through this area. I drive through here at least once a year. This is the first time in more than a year, because of the pandemic.

Gulfport now have an open air meeting space that I'm sure you can rent. They have shower and restroom facilities and there is a marina where I believe you can rent boats. No, the sand isn't blinding white like Florida and the water is kind of murky. But, if you live in the area, this is a great place to go.

Note, there are several beaches along this coast. If you want it a little quieter, then Long Beach to the west gives you all of the sand you need with only a few other guests. If you want more casinos with your beach, then Biloxi is to the east. Places to eat are plentiful here.

So if you are driving a long distance trying to get to a Florida beach, this is a nice...
