Above the Rest — Local services in Guthrie

Rude and unprofessional vendors. I do NOT recommend this store. Plenty of other antique shops nearby with much friendlier vendors. It's my understanding that with antique malls that each vendor takes turns being the salesperson/cashier, if that is the case my problem is with the people working August 6, 2012. I took my elderly mother for a "girls day out" road trip to Guthrie as they have several antique stores in the same location. This would make it easier for her to get around. Our first stop was Above the Rest Antique Mall. The female salesperson was irritated with the few simple questions we had, like we were really bothering her. Not a pleasant experience, then it took her 30 mins to check out the gentleman in front of us with his few items, and another 15 to check us out. After shopping at the other stores, I decided that I had changed my mind about an item and wanted to return it. I went in, up to the same salesperson and requested a return. She was REALLY irritated then and pointed to a sign under the glass display case that said "All Sales Final". This was covered up with merchandise when I had shopped earlier. I asked if I could please have a refund as I did not see that sign earlier, she consulted a male coworker who asked if I had a receipt. I said I did and I had forgotten it in the car, so I walked all the way out of the store, into the heat, down and across the road then back to the store and gave him the receipt. He said he wanted the store receipt and not the credit card receipt, the female salesperson hadn't given me one when we checked out. So, he went through the trouble of pulling the receipt tape out of the register, copying it and laying it on the counter in front of me. Very hatefully he circled my transaction and then the barely legible "All Sales Final". (He had no intention of giving me a refund yet had me walk all the way out to my car in the heat!!!) I told him I understand the policy but since their sign was covered up with excess merchandise and not visible and I was not given a store receipt, could I please get a refund of my $20 item? He refused and his reply was so hateful I was shocked and insulted and left the store in tears. His aggression was completely uncalled for and entirely ruined my shopping trip with my mother. My husband and I have been shopping here for years and today we were turned away at the door. My husband is in a wheelchair that requires both of their front doors to open - one of which they keep locked. They have opened the second door for him to get in every time we have visited in the past. Today we were told they would not do it because they are afraid of break ins. A Rude man answered the phone 4:17 pm april 17th. I said I had a quick question for him. He responded with "i don't think I'm interested" and hung up on me abruptly. I'm interested in antique coca cola products and wanted to inquire about any memorabilia they may have in the store.
