It is difficult to completely express in words how thankful we are for team at Auto First LLC in Mechanicsburg as it exceeded all of our expectations for trading and purchasing a used vehicle. John Fox, worked with us through a most difficult financial standpoint, when other dealerships made promises to help, but never made good on their word. The first thing that set John apart was his real compassion and understanding. From the beginning, John was honest about our options, while listening to our needs. He then set forth to find the best vehicles for our parameters. John provided us with a multitude of options. Most impressively he did so in less than 4 days, Friday to Monday, even with the dealership closed on Sundays and a shortened day on Saturday. We meet John in person and it just reinforced what a truly wonderful gentleman he is. He is polite, well-mannered, and genuine. Deep down inside, we felt John wanted to help us more than selling a car or helping himself. We had 2 older vehicles to trade, and needed 2 vehicles to replace them. John found us viable options, then finagled with numbers to create deals so we could leave that evening feeling completely satisfied. He even went as far as to drive to Enola with us so we may test the first car, pick up the second, then drive both back. This allowed to truly test drive the cars in a variety of environments. When we decided to purchase the vehicles, and trade in our cars, they worked with us again to provide the best offer for our needs. They were flexible with downpayments and offered us high-end KBB prices for our trade-ins. The dealerships offer quality, no pressure warranties as well. We also received new inspections and John even put half tanks of gas in each car. He then proceeded to put new plates on our cars and scrap the stickers from the windows. The vehicles are absolutely pristine for being used. While John was doing all of this, we worked with Brittany to do our paperwork. She was just as amazing as John. While we were finalizing with John, Brittany had already started our paperwork, so we could expedite the process on a Monday evening. And she went above and beyond as 90% of the paperwork was truly on paper as the necessary sites were not responding. She was kind, informative and attentive to our desire to get home after a long day. Brittany disclosed everything, provided insight into refinancing, offered other information to help us without pressure. John and Brittany combined to make this the best car buying/trading we have ever experienced in over 30 years of driving each. We will without a doubt be returning to Auto First LLC in Mechanicsburg for all future vehicle purchases. And we highly recommend them as a quality, reputable and easy work with...
Read moreMy experience started out great. My sales person did a good Job finding me a vehicle in my price range and getting me credit at the time may not having such stellar credit due to a divorce. Got interesting after that I agreed to the Service extended contract but I was misled told it was for three years and that is not true. It is for 7500 miles. I told him I was going to be driving a lot with my next job when we had this discussion and he told me this would be perfect for me, as it turned out that is not the case it’s good for 7500 miles and if you do that in a month or years it is what it is but bottom line is that wouldn’t have lasted me but four months so after I read the fine print when I went home, I found out that was the case and I called back And got the runaround and canceled it because I had seven days to do so and it wasn’t gonna do me any good and it was with the gap insurance it was $4099 extra in my financing so I asked for it to be taken off. It took six phone calls and three weeks for them to write a check to the finance company , let me rephrase that I was told they wrote a check and send it to my finance company to take it off of my principal so it was $3399 for the extended warranty and another 750 for the gap insurance I declined both of them and I was told three weeks later that the check was sent on a Saturday And me believed then after the runaround I was given prior to that I just recently checked with my finance company one year later on my payoff because I’m possibly looking for another vehicle and guess what they lied and three people lied to me they never sent the check to the finance company as they said they did so they pocketed $4099 of my money that I owe for and I got nothing in return But lied to nobody wants to own up to it but I have a the finance company made note as I asked him to when I called them half a dozen times to keep finding out if the check arrived yet and I kept getting a cock and bull story from Auto First so they don’t know their products they’re selling the sales person. I’m sure made a big spiff on it as did the sales manager and the company well a real big spiff they put 4099 extra dollars in their pocket for absolutely nothing and light to a customer saying they sent the check checks of is told they sent two separate checks to the finance company to take it off of my financing. They did not , I am going November 12. I’ll be near there way out of my way though to go resolve the issue and I will follow up with what happens but shady shady. Shady characters don’t know their product and don’t tell the truth if I could give them a zero I would for...
Read moreSome things have come to light since I made my previous 5 star review for Auto First. Due to new information and experiences I am taking my 5 star and turning it to a 1. I will leave my previous review below.
UPDATED REVIEW: I bought my 2017 Subaru forester from Fred Hershey who WAS a personal friend of mine. I trusted him to sell me a great vehicle with no prior problems and or accidents. I didn’t think to ask for a carfax due to trusting him and I will take credit for that. He sold me the vehicle for basically 16k plus I had to roll over my vehicle from Bob Ruth ford that ALSO had an accident that was hidden from me. A few years later I thought about trading in my vehicle not knowing there was an accident for a jeep. He ended up sending me multiple purchase agreements, 4 to be exact after I pointed out he was not giving me full price for my vehicle like he said he would and pointing out I didn’t need gap insurance. On the final purchase agreement I noticed the sales tax on the vehicle I was purchasing was increasing when the price of the vehicle was not. When asked Fred Hershey responded with “ I need to make up the cost somewhere”. After that I was done with the thought of purchasing a vehicle. Shortly after that incident I discovered my vehicle was in an accident prior to me owning it. Recently I have tried trading in the same vehicle to upgrade to a vehicle with less miles and no accidents and found out my vehicle is only worth 3500 due to this accident! No financial institution will take a loan for me due to being over 6000 in negative equity on my vehicle and no one will give me anything more for it. My tip for anyone buying a car… STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM AUTO FIRST AS YOU CAN. I am not the first person this has been done to. At least 3 of my friends have had this done to them as well.
(And as if all of this wasn’t enough I was pressured and bribed with multiple free oil changes to post a review no sooner I bought the vehicle)
PREVIOUS REVIEW: Auto first is by far the best dealership I’ve ever gone to. I explained to Fred Hershey that I was looking for a safe reliable SUV for myself and my son and he made it his mission to help. They are not the typical pushy salespeople and they genuinely care about their customers. While my car was getting fixed they went above and beyond to make sure I had a loaner to get to and from work. Every time I was in everyone is so pleasant including service where Justin has helped me on countless occasions and makes sure I am heard. 10/10 always...
